According to Christopher Budd in his article at GeekWire, the truly important matter here is the security of Hillary's "homebrew" email server. Budd presents the frighting but very possible spectacle about the likelihood of all of her emails being accessed by foreign intelligence agents:

I thought that is how the ‘private server’ became revealed: Russian hackers exposed it after saying they hacked it.

The Romanian actually hacked the email of Sidney Blumenthal who was emailing to Hillary’s homebrew server.

I would be startled if there had not been dozens of countries hacking that server and reading all of her email since her first month as Secretary of State.
(1) It’s easy to see from her official professional email address, Hillary@clintonemail.com, that it’s not behind a dot-gov firewall. I’d guess that one of the first Russian officials to receive email from her took it to their experts with a request for direct action. The same for the Germans, Chinese, Japanese, Israeli, Saudi, Al Qaeda, and many others. Even the Brits probably hacked her email (politely, and discretely, of course). I would not be surprised if Obama’s geeks hacked her campaign email and used that in the same way that Nixon used his intrusion on McGovern’s brick and mortar campaign site - careless security may have cost her the 2008 primary elections.
(2) It’s easy to hack a private email account, or more generally a private email server. There are apps for that, password crackers and other techniques. I would recommend extreme care if visiting such sites, since many are malicious, but it’s an interesting thing to browse from a public library computer.
Bet she’s P.O.’d. The Clintons hate not getting paid for classified information.
Its been known since 2013 that at least some of Hillary’s e-mails (those to Sydney Blumenthal) were hacked and distributed. Although the claim it it has been done by a “lone wolf” hacker named “Guccifer,” the hack was traced through Russian servers and e-mails were distributed through Russian media.
How can anyone claim these did NOT get into the hands of foreign spy agencies?
Yes important, but not as important as how many in the Obama administration have been networked privately and outside the federal records system. How much endless opportunity for financial and political illegal conspiracies is what we really have to determine. That is most important to know.
The upside to her server being hacked is that it means Gowdy more than likely has obtained all her emails through back channels already. If he plays his cards right he can probably catch her in a big fat lie, hopefully after she perjures herself under oath.
Well the enemy certainly knew when, where and how to kill Ambassador Stevens. So apparently Hillary was correct when she said What difference does it make. Obviously when our enemies have access to our private emails, there is no way to stop these attacks from occurring.
I would surely like to know where the “home-brew” server came from and who installed and maintained it.
I looked at the Clinton Foundation financial report and in 2013 they were a $350+ million concern, with $50-100 million in free cash. They may have their own server, but it wasn’t an old computer repurposed for this use, it was a brand-new one bought and installed specifically for this use.
Why would it be in their extra bedroom, if it was there? The best reason I can think of is Secret Service protection. Any Clinton home gets the best physical protection the US government can provide, which means access is very restricted. And all at no cost to Hillary.
The Clintons are selfish people with an agenda that is bad for our country, but they aren’t stupid. She knew the computer would be the target of attacks and yet wanted it completely under her control. I think she spent the money to do this right.
This was not some teenybopper’s homemade server.
I’ll bet Biden could pull in the foreign cash if he would allow our enemies to look at classified information on his computer ... as it was happening.

Considering the way both clintons sold as much of the US’s classified national security information to China, and armed them with the help of “patriots” like Bernard Schwarts of Loreal, this news smacks of the same type of “entrepreneurship” by the clintons than of unintended consequences.
You forgot the Chinese - they know how to hack too... I’ll bet they know more about State Department decisions than we do... Hillary never had much respect for common every day Americans.
