New low in relations between Obama, congressional GOP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Relations between President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans have hit a new low.

There has been little direct communication between Obama and the GOP leadership on Capitol Hill since Republicans took full control of Congress in January. Obama has threatened to veto more than a dozen Republican-backed bills. And House Speaker John Boehner infuriated the White House by inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress without consulting the administration first.

But the dispute over Obama's high-stakes nuclear negotiations with Iran has put the relationship perhaps beyond repair.

The president and his advisers are seething over Republican efforts to undermine the sensitive discussions with Iran, most recently by sending an "open letter" to the country's leaders warning that any nuclear deal could expire the day Obama walks out of the Oval Office. "I cannot recall another instance in which senators wrote directly to advise another country — much less a longtime foreign adversary — that the president does not have the constitutional authority to reach a meaningful understanding with them," Vice President Joe Biden, who spent nearly four decades in the Senate, said in an unusually harsh statement.

For their part, Republican lawmakers call their outreach to a hostile nation a reasonable response to an administration they say has spurned Congress and ignored its prerogatives at every turn. It's the starkest sign yet that Republicans see an adversary, not a potential partner, in Obama's White House — even on foreign policy issues where partisan differences have traditionally been somewhat muted.

It started when he took office over six years ago. He won’t discuss anything with a Republican - he tells and demands. Negotiate? - he can’t even spell the word.

Congress has the power to remove this man from office. They need to grow a pair and save this nation, possibly even the world, by acting upon that.

The way I see it, the GOP has two choices - make Obama happy by sitting with their thumbs in their collective butts while Obama does as he pleases; or

Exercise congressional prerogatives under the Constitution and make Obama stamp his foot and hold his breath until he turns purple.

We already know which alternative the MSM would prefer.

It’s funny in a sick end-of-the-nation kind of way that relations between the HOR/Senate are beyond repair bad, considering they caved and enabled and financed the invasion of the US. They couldn’t over-ride a veto of Keystone. There’s talk they’re going to vote for Obama’s AG choice. They’ll raise the debt ceiling again, anything but “close down” Obama’s gov. Etc ad nauseum.

Why don't they get along? Boehner and McConnell have been kissing his rump since 2008.

Congress needs to show Obama they also have a pen and a phone. Among other things they need to be doing is issuing open letters to federal employees telling them that Obama’s executive orders are illegal and that at some point federal employees who follow them are going to be subject to prosecution or discipline for breaking the law.

Good deal. To me, a divided government means the same thing that a divided America means to the Kenyan. It tickles the hell out of me.

Obola, and his lackeys in the press, refuse to acknowledge that that tsunami of last November was an historic repudiation of everything he stands for.America has finally realized (two elections too late) that the content of his character (and intellect) is far more important than the color of his skin.

The beneficiaries of the electoral tsunami, the Republicans, refuse to acknowledge it.

Relations between President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans have hit a new low.

This is instructive. Boehner and McConnell give 0bama everything he wants, and "relations" are low?

Think about that fact GOP leadership. For some reason that behavior reminds me of Monica Lewinsky.

‘This is instructive. Boehner and McConnell give 0bama everything he wants, and “relations” are low?’

Look at what the Republicans do, not what they say.
Since the Republican position is not to impeach Mr. Obama no matter what he does, they can say anything they want. Mr. Obama can, has, is and will continue to ignore subpoenas, levy taxes, start wars...whatever, and the Mainstream Republican Party will whine and obey.
The cowardly Lions of the Mainstream Republican Leadership will only fight against honest Conservatives.
