*A white, Atlanta-area police officer shot and killed a naked and unarmed African-American man who was said to be acting erratically in his apartment complex and possibly suffering from a mental illness, reports Reuters.
This becomes third African-American man to be shot dead by police since last Friday, who either was or seemed unarmed.
In Mondays shooting, a Dekalb County police officer responded to a caller who said a man was acting deranged, knocking on doors, and crawling around on the ground naked, on Monday around 1 p.m. local time, county police chief Cedric Alexander told reporters.
The officer confronted the man, who was not wearing any clothes, in the parking lot, Alexander said at a conference published online by local broadcaster Fox5.
Alexander said the man ran at the officer, who backed up and ordered the person to stop before shooting him twice. Police did not find a weapon at the scene, he said.
Alexander said he could reasonably assume the person was possibly suffering from mental illness, given his behavior. He declined to identify the victim, but the New York Times reported that he was 27-year-old Anthony Hill.
Alexander said the officer, who had been with the department for seven years, was equipped with a taser at the time of the shooting. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation would handle Mondays incident, he said.

The shooting comes after a string of killings of unarmed black men by police in the United States. Last year, incidents in Fergsuon, Missouri and New York City prompted nationwide protests.
Dekalb County police has already faced protests after an officer shot dead a black man who had called 911 when his girlfriend was stabbed by an attacker in his apartment late last year, according to local media.
Police near Denver last Friday shot dead an unarmed man who was a wanted fugitive. On the same day, an officer in Madison, Wisconsin, shot dead a 19-year-old, prompting some 2,000 students to march in the states capital on Monday.
Free LAZAMATAZ!!!
Ain’t gonna happen. Deal with it.
LOL holy crap I am off limited access. Thank you to whoever did that!
I’ll stay off the areas where I pissed off JR. I still will be advancing the project, but will keep it off FR.
;^)
Maybe the officer should've pointed his gun towards a very sensitive area.
That usually works on men.
“permanent limited-access account.”
I don’t know what that means. Are you restricted on this site?
Welcome back Kotter. :-)
Dude, call me.
I wondered what was going on, as I had not heard from you after sending a couple PM’s and the number I have for you no longer works.
Send me a number
Yes it is a serious issue for the black grievance industry (a.k.a. the gibmedats).
“Dont look Ethel!!!!”
Memory just exploded way back in a long forgotten corner...
Like using gutter language...?
Sorry, was the b-word too much? I will be sure to keep it even cleaner than that, if you desire.
Oh, I see what I did wrong. It was in that very message.
Successfully pulled. I’m twitchy these days. I have PTSD from watching my country die. (No, not really, NSA and ATF, just joking, no need to flag me as a POI)....
Haven't you figured out where the trip wires are? Or are they moving them around again?
If that is what you want then stop issuing guns; once the cop is responsible for it, he has to protect it. Read about Thomas Trantino and the murder of two cops in the 1960s in NJ; without going into detail, the story will stop any cop from losing his gun.
And here I thought you were ignoring me. What’s this about you being permanently restricted?? What’s with that?! FREE LAZ!!!! And what about a shoot (?) in June? Someone tell me
I am not restricted any more, I just have to avoid off-site contacts with people. Orders from the boss. I’ve agreed to his orders. I have a network of folks I know already, and we can go to dinner and stuff, but no new ones.
