The ‘Crime’ of Dr. Wei-Hock(Willie) Soon

Wei-Hock Soon’s “crime” is being a scientist who sincerely believes that the global warming of the 1900s was caused by a rise in solar output, whereas most scientists believe that you and I are to blame because we use fossil fuels.

What is particularly appalling about his crime is that he has actually substantiated his views in scientific journals and argued for them in public. His accusers have clothed their accusations in terms of funding sources, but have no doubt: his real crime is his ongoing scientific work within a theory of global warming that blames the sun, not us, for global warming.

Discredit his funders but not the data. That's what they do. How dare he put facts out to substantiate his claims. I've read several of his articles along with Sally Baliunis(SP) over the years and it looks to me like they were/are stating facts and not just suppositions. They're after you Willie.

This so-called scientist was mostly guilty of arguing with “settle science”. He just had to be destroyed in some manner.
There was once an idiotic sailor who claimed that the planet was ROUND and offered to prove it. His claim went against long “settled science” and actually went again church teachings.
He conned a rich old lady out of enough money to sail three tiny ships on a voyage he claimed would be around the world.
The “powers-that-be” of the day knew he had to be eliminated, but hesitated to have him killed. Instead, they gathered at the dock, to cheer and wave the “nut” off on his voyage “around the world”, knowing that the ships would sail over the edge of the world and vanish form history.
A perfect illustration of the sanctity of “Settled Science”

Nice story, but unfortunately it's wrong from the word "go."

From the time of Eratosthenes (276 BC - 194 BC), every educated person in Europe knew the Earth was round and knew how big it was. Objections to Columbus's proposal had nothing to do with the Earth being assumed "flat," but with the fact that he fudged the numbers to make the voyage appear shorter than it really would be. The experts convened by the King of Spain (not the "Inquisition") were aware of his fakery and pointed it out.

Fortunately for us, he ran into America, instead of dying of starvation somewhere east of Hawaii.
