Answer me this, if the sun were to go dark tomorrow, how long would we still be complaining about global warming?

"While they acknowledged that greenhouse gases are the immediate dominating force changing Earths climate today, they noted that on a larger scale the way our planet revolves around the sun is the ultimate control knob over the climate."
Isn't there a contradiction lurking in there somewhere? If the earth's orbit is "the ultimate control knob," how can greenhouse gases be the "immediate dominating force" in climate change?

If in some four billion years, the earth has not fallen into the Sun, it aint gonna happen. We should be concerned about Andromeda. It will collide with us in that timeframe going forward.

There is also a good case that the closing of the Panama isthmus, cutting off the flow of water between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, was the cause of the ice age cycles that began millions of years ago until the present age. That isn’t going to change any time soon.

Isn’t it astounding? This guy KNOWS that previous Earth temperature fluctuations, even back millions of years, were due to varying conditions on the Sun. But that THIS ONE is being caused by human activity.
Right now I’m thinking of a little human activity THAT idiot needs; Upside the head with a baseball bat!

Although our research suggests that GCC is a bunch of hooey, we still wish to receive money from the government and be invited to conferences in vacation destinations so...
Or possibly: “Please, please don’t hit me.”

The good news is that they have found the source of climate change.
The bad news is that it will cost even more money to correct fluctuations in the earth's orbit than it will to end the use of fossil fuels.
To: alloysteel
A stable orbit, once achieved, remains stable. Not perfectly so. The gravitational influence of the nearer planets has an effect on the eccentricity of Earth's orbit.
