Iranian President: Diplomacy With U.S. is an Active Jihad
Diplomacy just as significant as new weapons, missiles
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described his countrys diplomacy with the United States as an active jihad that is just as significant to Tehrans advancement as the slew of new weapons and missiles showcased by the Islamic Republics military.
Rouhani praised the countrys military leaders for standing against the enemy on the battlefield and said as president, he would carry out this jihad on the diplomatic front.
Rouhanis comments echo those of foreign minister and lead nuclear negotiator Javad Zarif, who said Tuesday that Iran has emerged as the winner in talks with Western powers. Like Zarif, Rouhani boasted that Irans years-long diplomacy with Western nations over its nuclear program established the Islamic Republic as a global power.
Iran has made headway in convincing the U.S. to allow it to maintain much of its core infrastructure through diplomatic talks that Rouhani said are viewed as a jihad.

"Toe the Line," NOT "Tow the Line" by Tina Blue August 14, 2003
http://grammartips.homestead.com/toetheline.html
I saw it again today, this time in a comment on an article on a political website. It referred to reporters who mindlessly "tow the administration's line."
Um, that should be "toe the line."
A lot of people who don't know the origin of the phrase picture someone pulling a rope, cord, or some other "line"--"tow the line"--as a way of working for whomever the "line" belongs to. Thus, if the administration has a "line"--i.e., a "party line"--then those who side with the administration help to pull it ("tow" it) along.
Wrong.
The phrase "toe the line" is equivalent to "toe the mark," both of which mean to conform to a rule or a standard. The Oxford Dictionary of Word Histories (Oxford: Oxford Univ. Press, 2002; ed. by Glynnis Chantrell) says, "The idiom toe the line from an athletics analogy originated in the early 19th century" (514).
The specific sport referred to is foot-racing, where the competitors must keep their feet behind a "line" or on a "mark" at the start of the race--as in "On your mark, get set, go!"
So one who "toes the line" is one who does not allow his foot to stray over the line. In other words, one who does not stray beyond a rigidly defined boundary.
If diplomacy with Iran is a Jihad for them, the Obamanation is likely to lose his head!
An active jihad, eh?
I translate that, as one that has been watching this ‘jihad’ stuff for over 45 years, that Iran sees OUR ‘attempts’ at ‘diplomacy’ (with knee pads), as an America subjugating itself to the whims of Iran, without question, and as vindication, for all that has been done against Iran, financially.
In short, they won.
