Nancy Pelosi: Republicans Writing a Letter to Iran is Way Worse Than

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims she nearly cried last week after being offended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to a joint session of Congress about Iran. Now, she's seemingly just as upset about a letter sent from 47 Republican Senators to the Ayatollah of Iran, warning the regime that if a deal is made with the White House, it will only be temporary.

"It has come to our attention while observing your nuclear negotiations with our government that you may not fully understand our constitutional system. Thus, we are writing to bring to your attention two features of our Constitution -- the power to make binding international agreements and the different character of federal offices -- which you should seriously consider as negotiations progress," the letter, spearheaded by Republican Senator Tom Cotton, stated. "What these two constitutional provisions mean is that we will consider any agreement regarding your nuclear-weapons program that is not approved by the Congress as nothing more than an executive agreement between President Obama and Ayatollah Khamenei. The next president could revoke such an executive agreement with the stroke of a pen and future Congresses could modify the terms of the agreement at any time."

But Republicans are pushing back, saying Pelosi has no room to criticize considering her history of visiting embattled Syrian dictator Bashir Assad back in 2007, when tensions between the Bush administration and the regime were high. Pelosi, of course, argues that was a totally different situation than the letter sent and is lashing out about critics exposing her hypocrisy. From The Hill

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is pushing back hard against conservative claims that the Republicans' recent letter to Iranian leaders, which has infuriated the White House amidst delicate nuclear talks, is akin to her 2007 visit to Syria against the wishes of the Bush administration.

The office of the House minority leader issued a scathing statement Wednesday night saying her meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad was part of a bipartisan effort — conducted through the Bush administration — to encourage peace in the region and accusing the Republicans of launching a "desperate" defense of their Iran letter to mask criticisms coming from both sides of the aisle.

As a reminder, Assad has slaughtered more than 200,000 of his own people in a desperate attempt to hold onto power.

I'll leave you with this:

I agree w Nancy Pelosi — going to Syria to give Assad a bear hug is nothing like an open letter on the Constitution http://t.co/lf4A7sUR5j— Benjamin Weingarten (@bhweingarten) March 12, 2015

Is writing a letter to Iran worse than being a communist?

Is it true her Syria trip was "conducted through the Bush administration"? As I recall she got a lot of flack from the right for this trip and her burka scarf.

I don't care what she has to say, but I do care that like the rest of the RATS, Pelosi doesn't hesitate to say things despite being in the minority. Every day, she or someone else on that side is out there making some sort of statement or sending a letter warning about some transgression like the letter from that nobody RAT congressman concerning the climate scientists.

Contrast that with the GOPe who hide under their desks whether minority or majority, emerging only to criticize conservatives for angering the GOPe's betters and messing up their invites to the Georgetown cocktail parties and dinners of the elites.

I will never, never, never forgive Thad Cochran and Haley Barbour & Co for what they did to Christ McDaniel-they fought dirtier against a good conservative man than they will ever fight against the rats. The GOP Congressional majority is of a piece with them. The only way it makes sense is that either they don't want their little gravy train halted, or they have leftist sympathies, if they're not out-and-out infiltrators anyway. It could be either, but the way they're not even making a pretense of standing up against the rats, it's plain that the "left" and the "right" are in this together.

Once translated, her statement is uncontroversial. In D-speech, “worse” simply means worse for her parochial interests. The interests of the nation as a whole are irrelevant to that.

I’ve posted a number of times about this that the GOPe yearns for the salad days of the 70s when they were a well-cared-for permanent minority who received plenty of pork and hookers, and no opposition in return for not challenging the RATS. It was conservatives who ruined things, especially Ronald Reagan, and the GOPe will never forgive them.

All these republicrats can do is write a letter to the editor. What a putrid bunch of quivering ganglia. They have funded obamacare 3 times and fully funded illegal alien amnesty, thus approving it after they absolutely promised to not fund itin order to get elected. LIARS!! They will not live it down. We will not just act like nothing happened and move on.

The Republicans had the responsibility to make sure that any talks by Iran with King Obama will not result in a treaty unless it is approved by the Senate. Use extreme caution in listening to an insane President and think the Country will honor anything out of the ridiculous brain of the self proclaimed dictator.

Pelosi is the perfect figurehead for the Democrat party - a San Francisco cookoo who used to be kept around for comic relief, but is now in control of the country.
