New York Fire Dept., Diversifying Ranks, Is Set to Swear In First Lesbian Chaplain

Maybe it is her short, spiky hair, or the cigarettes, which she gives to the men repairing the wiring in her Brooklyn apartment. Maybe it is because she swears. For whatever reason, the Rev. Ann Kansfield does not fit the stereotype of a minister.

Not that she is worried about meeting anyone’s expectations for what a clergywoman should say or do.

“We shouldn’t have to hide ourselves or worry about being judged,” Ms. Kansfield, who ministers at the Greenpoint Reformed Church, said.

In her newest ministry, that self-assuredness is likely to serve her well. Ms. Kansfield, 39, is to be sworn in on Tuesday as a chaplain of the New York Fire Department, the first female chaplain and the first openly gay chaplain in a department that for decades resisted efforts to diversify its ranks.

Notice the by-line, Tatania Schlossberg. Caroline Kennedy has a daughter by that name. Can there be two Tatania Schlossbergs writing for a New York newspaper? I suspect not.

That we are not already further down the rat hole of total tyranny convinces me that, just as when Mr. Franklin reminded the others in Philadelphia that “...God governs in the affairs of men...”, despite our having turned our backs on Him, God is STILL governing in our affairs, hoping against hope that we will finally “get it.”

We still haven’t gotten it as too many of us silently watch the nation wiser men have called “A shining city on a hill” and “The last best hope for mankind” continue to disrespect and disregard Him and His laws and descend into a place from which few nations in history have ever escaped. It’s a well settled tenet of jurisprudence that silence is assent and that those who sleep on their rights forfeit them!

Ronald Reagan spoke eloquently of the problem thus:
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our childrens’ children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

If a nation’s citizens — especially the young — can be indoctrinated to the point where they reject or loathe the symbols, customs, mores, faith and traditions that made their nation – warts and all – great, that nation will be ‘fundamentally transformed’ into something to which they would long to return but, because they are now slaves, cannot.
Will ours be the generation about which President Reagan spoke? If so, may I  suggest cremation? That would preclude any children who survive the ongoing government school socialist indoctrination from digging us up to spit in our faces!

Pretty stupid statement for a minister to make. I think she has every reason to worry about being judged. which indicates she has no qualifications to be a minister if she does not understand that...

Greenpoint Reformed Church is a Reformed Church in America church at 136 Milton Street in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. As of March 2012, it had a congregation of 80 people.

The Reformed Protestant Dutch Church of Green-Point was organized with eight members, by a committee from the North Classis of Long Island, on the first Sunday of May, 1848. 

A congregation from 8 to 80 in 160 years.
