So if they had a maximum wage law of say $2.00 an hour, more restaurants would open?

$15.00 an hour for the waitress? I certainly wouldn’t be worried about figuring out what to tip. No reason to tip and the restaurant better not be forcing gratuity for tables over 8 customers.

And sooner or later Taco Bell will be the only restaurant.

How many noted that the operator of the franchise makes approx. $28K / year, and now any full time employee will be making roughly $30K / year?

there's enough rich people or near rich in Washington state that perhaps the real reason to boost minimum wage is to chase out the middle class tourists and reserve all of the wharf and downtown areas to the these same rich/near rich...

you know they can't stand to mingle with the masses...

one happy thought is maybe some of these people will be pushed into higher tax brackets...maybe even not get the free EIC....ha ha...

on a serious note, I respect all people that do good work at their legal jobs no matter how simple....it makes our lives better and easier to have someone ready to hand us our hamburgers or coffee or sell us a donut....

its just that those are starter jobs, or jobs for people that just need a little extra income..

many people are content with jobs that pay little if they LIKE their work and the business takes care of their health care and throws some money into a 401k.....

These are outstanding points, thank you. I did not know about the In-N-Out business and high-wages model.

Folks, c’mon, this is Seattle. Not exactly known as being a foodie mecca of eclectic locally owned small restaurants.

So long as this doesn’t change the pattern of at least one Starbucks on every corner, will anyone but the former-restauranteurs-now-barristas even notice?

For those of us who survive the franchise wars, anyways ... ;-)
