Actor Michael Douglas is speaking out about an ugly confrontation with a jerk who gave his 14-year-old son “his first taste of anti-Semitism.”
The two-time Oscar winner revealed the incident happened last year when he and wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, took their two young children on a family vacation to Europe.
“During our stay at a hotel, our son Dylan went to the swimming pool. A short time later he came running back to the room, upset. A man at the pool had started hurling insults at him,” Douglas wrote in an op-ed piece in Sunday’s Los Angeles Times.
The 71-year-old Douglas said he initially thought his son had misbehaved. Then he realized the teen, who attends Hebrew school and has been studying for his bar mitzvah, was left truly shaken and in tears.
“I stared at him. And suddenly I had an awful realization of what might have caused the man’s outrage: Dylan was wearing a Star of David,” Douglas wrote.

Maybe this will help wake him up about what is going on in the world and who his real enemies are. Anti-Semitism seems to be growing here in this country too, especially among the Democrats, and Democrat ran areas.

The post’s point was that Douglas has supported politicians and policies which allowed Muslims into Europe.
Also, the post pointed out the fact of Douglas’ support for Obama.
I wouldn’t bother with such as Douglas, and we share a common religion - in a manner of speaking.
But, he is a Liberal/Democrat and I am an Originalist/Republican.

The OP was about the rise of anti-Semitism and how even Americans travelling abroad are not exempt from mistreatment for being Jewish, religious or not. It just so happens, this kid is religious.

The article never mentions Douglas’s political affiliations, only that he quickly went and defended his young son.
Maybe this will be a wakeup call for Michael. Time to get behind Israel.
Why no mention of which European country this occurred in, nor the background of the person who insulted his son?
He recently began calling himself "Reform-Jewish" and apparently wants his son to be raised Jewish.

Michael Douglas’s mother was not Jewish so he probably didn’t identify that strongly with his Jewishness. But apparently he had his children do so.
