Would you like some tolerance with that cappuccino?
Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced a new PR campaign for the worlds largest coffee shop chain, in which employees are encouraged to serve up chats about race relations to customers.
We at Starbucks should be willing to talk about these issues in America," Schultz said in a corporate release on Monday announcing the Race Together campaign.
Starting on Monday, Starbucks baristas are being asked to write Race Together on coffee cups they hand to customers, as an invitation to talk to them about race.

I’ve been in a Starbucks once in my life. In San Francisco of all places.
It was the day after I ran the SF Marathon and I was out for a short run just to loosen up. Between the race the day before, all the food I ate afterward to celebrate, and just a messed up system, I really needed a pit stop.
So, all sweaty and smelly, I made a beeline into the (one) rest room at a Starbucks.
Didn’t take too long, but I pity the poor libs who had to use that facility after me!
I go into Starbucks all the time. I do not see black patrons either.
It’s possible they don’t buy coffee.
Since the majority of racial violence is black on black and black on white, shouldn’t this be an initiative done by Churches or Popeyes? Or maybe even the Colonel?
This crap is going to backfire on these people. I think it instigates more than brings people together. Statistics coming out of police departments don't show the racism that is being accused by some.
I like that. I’m changing my game plan... :^)
I like that. Thanks.
I rarely go to Starbucks, and I will never go there so long as they are doing this. My response to questions on race is always, “I prefer to judge others by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.”
It works almost every time.
Starbucks baristas? Latte, white imperialist lackey?

The CEO of Starbucks says he likes French press coffee, not available at Starbucks but is available in my kitchen. We even take beans, a grinder, and a press on our RV trips. We recently bought a roaster for our son. He buys the unroasted beans, roasts them, grinds them, and does some little drip thingie for one cup. Yum.
That’s because almost every time you’re dealing with a sentient being.
The day a barista tells me how privilaged I am for being white is the day I give up Starbucks coffee.
Yep
By the way, Starbucks is the worst coffee I ever tasted. I haven’t had one in a dozen years. The owners of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf are conservatives. Their coffee is WAY better tasting.
Lets talk race relations!
How about keeping your coffee and giving me my money back!
About 22 years ago went to starbucks with a board member friend I was on a major Board with...I orderwd a “skinny latte”...she advised me I shouldn’t say “skinny”...and she was serious...we did not remain friends
We had a Starbucks across the street from a place I worked at a few years back. I ran across the Caramel Machiado, hot, and I haven’t enjoyed anything else sense. I drop in about once every three months to have one.
They also have a ham panini that is very good. They heat that up, and with the coffee, it’s a decent replacement for a breakfast. Note, I didn’t say healthy replacement. LOL
You admonition about the Coffee Bean being a better establishment to support is a sound one.
The worst office I’ve ever tasted come from places that have signs that say “The best coffee in town.”

Coffee Bean has very high quality coffee.
