I disagree that there are no differences. When a Republican crook or philanderer gets caught, he/she resigns. When a Demoncrat gets caught, he gets more votes the next time (unless he goes against Party leadership, then they get sent to prison).
As to whether there are differences between where the parties stand, I disagree on that,too - but that is a debate for another time.
