My friend is a public school teacher. High school history.
When we were running around he was a timid, smart, kinda nerdy feller. Wouldn’t hurt a flea and started leaning left in college.
Now, after 20 years teaching, he is the most conservative person I know. He absolutely despises lazy kids... created by lazy parents... and will not help those that refuse to help themselves. He could care less if they pass, fail, sell drugs, whatever. The ones that try; he’ll do anything he can to help them.
The stories he tells about kids nowadays are stuff that you can’t make up... scary.
