Don’t see a lot of weapon’s.....on the port or starboard sides!

Her primary defence is intended to be her escorts - just as it is with most carriers. But she is mounted with four 25mm remote weapon systems for close defence, as well as mounted machine guns - and there’s places where other things can be added later as well.

Her predecessor of WWII, the cruiser HMAS Canberra didn't lack weapons.

Much like the US Navy LHD, LHA, and similar her real striking power isn’t the weapons on her decks, it’s the horde of heavily armed grunts carried in her belly.
