I’m always amazed how this tiny country and its people always finds itself in the middle of attention by the world’s powerful empires:
Eygptian empire: plagues brings them to their knees.
Babylonian: Daniel advisor for the king.
Persian: King marries the King and influences policies.
Greek: The king of Greece takes on a personal vendetta against the Jews to get struck back by Maccabees.
Roman: A Jewish carpenter...
Ottoman: Conquers Israel.
Third Reich: attempt to exterminate the Jewish people
American: very much the center of policy and debate.
That’s what happens when you’re God’s chosen people. It’s not like they’re really special or anything like that ... God makes that clear. It’s that God chose some very “unlikely people” ... so to reveal Himself to the world “through” these people.
They might be asking right now ... “Why did you choose us?!” ... :-) ...
