Sanctions against the lawyers could go beyond $ that taxpayers have to pay. The charge of misleading the court could bring disciplinary action against the individual attorneys, could lead to suspension or disbarment, and would stay on their record for as long as they remain active in the bar. No light thing. Obama, of course, would be unscathed personally.
