That is why the Yankees have spring training in Florida; I believe players are only taxed on the income earned in NY (both by the state and city, which has its own income tax) if they don’t live there.
Rush Limbaugh’s move to Florida was a great demonstration of this, the governor of NY stupidly said they didn’t need Rush in NY, so he moved (with his tax dollars) to Florida. When someone hosts a radio show, it is foolish to chase them out like that - they can work from anywhere.
I believe MLB players are pro-rated taxed at the local rates in every state/city in which they appear.
Are you kidding? The Yankees have been going to Florida for spring training for close to a hundred years. Where else would they go? The Catskills?
NATIONAL ENQUIRER also moved for Florida decades ago because of New York taxes.
