In a preview of the 2016 campaign, all five late night comics on Monday night mocked Ted Cruz, hitting the Republican as anti-immigrant, regressive and stupid. CBS host David Letterman didn't bother with a joke. Instead, he lectured, "Here's what I find interesting about Ted Cruz, he was born in Canada. His father fled to the United States from Cuba. Yet, Ted Cruz is against immigration. Isn't that odd?"
He then sneered, "Ted Cruz could be president of the United States and if you thought the Secret Service was drinking before –" On TBS, Conan O'Brien hammered, "[Cruz] pledged to lead America boldly forward into the late 1950s."
Regarding the senator's opposition to amnesty, O'Brien noted that Cruz's first commercial was in Spanish and sneered, "Cruz said it's important for me to reach out to the people I'm trying to deport."

If disdaining a third world invasion is anti-immigrant then so be it.
Even leftie Alan Dershowitz (one of Cruz’s former profs at Harvard) admits that Cruz is one of the smartest people he knows, so calling Cruz “stupid” is going to be about as easy a sell as calling Mike Tyson a weakling.
As for the anti-immigrant part, Cruz opposes amnesty for illegal immigration. He supports reducing the red tape on immigration visas for people with the technical skills and education to contribute to the US economy, as opposed to those who come to be a drain on society. That doesn’t sound “anti-immigrant.”
He does that nightly.

Back when I was working in Hollywood, while working late one night, the Academy awards were on. One of the big shots at that special effects studio came to my work area and was surprised I was not watching the award ceremony. He said, all the people he thought would watch were not and all the people he thought would not watch were watching.
Progressives have such a high opinion of themselves and their work. Came to eventually realize I was working on something that did nothing.
It was bad timing. Then when she left the governorship midterm it compounded the problem.
Cruz understands he’s going to have to fight hard to over-ride the image that journ-0-lists will create.
It’s not impossible. The left threw everything at Scott Walker and he still won...in a state that was +7 Obama in 2012.

The only “Latinos” that matter are “Mexcans”, and they hate Cubans.
The big difference between Bush and Cruz is that Bush, along with Gore, the Kennedy Klan, Obama, and way too many others, got into an elite Ivy League college, not because of their brains and academic achievement, but because of their family names, connections, and/or ethnicity. Cruz, in contrast, is pure, gifted brilliance.
The networks pay them all huge money. I’m not sure if that’s for the ratings or the ideology....

Given that Governor Palin was in New York with her 14-year-old daughter, Willow, only a liberal could miss the fact that this comment was not just in poor taste but a reason why all decent parents would like to see Todd Palin settle things with the gross old pervert. There is no situation in which anyone decent would find that funny, even if it had been an older daughter. Letterman is one of the most disgusting liberals on TV - in the face of extremely stiff competition.
They were able to tAG Bush with the stupid label. I say let them have fun with it on Cruz. He’s smarter than all the comedy writers in Hollywood, and they are fairly smart.
And when she quit her job when the going got tough.
