The CEO lost his mind on this and if I where a board member or shareholder I’d move to have him replaced.
It’s one thing to have a company wide “no gun” policy, I disagree with it, but it’s his business.
But to encourage your employees engage your customers regarding issues of race ?
Just stupid.
That’s hilarious!
“He has also said he doesnt want anybody to carry guns into ANY Starbucks.”
Our companys longstanding approach to open carry has been to follow local laws: we permit it in states where allowed and we prohibit it in states where these laws dont exist. We have chosen this approach because we believe our store partners should not be put in the uncomfortable position of requiring customers to disarm or leave our stores. We believe that gun policy should be addressed by government and law enforcementnot by Starbucks and our store partners.
Recently, however, weve seen the open carry debate become increasingly uncivil and, in some cases, even threatening. Pro-gun activists have used our stores as a political stage for media events misleadingly called Starbucks Appreciation Days that disingenuously portray Starbucks as a champion of open carry. To be clear: we do not want these events in our stores. Some anti-gun activists have also played a role in ratcheting up the rhetoric and friction, including soliciting and confronting our customers and partners.
For these reasons, today we are respectfully requesting that customers no longer bring firearms into our stores or outdoor seating areaseven in states where open carry is permittedunless they are authorized law enforcement personnel.
I would like to clarify two points. First, this is a request and not an outright ban.
You need Ray Nagin in there too....here, you take some chocolate and add some milk, and you get a delicious drink.
Who buys that overpriced poser juice?
Wish I knew.
I’d love to be a billionaire.

Selling a Kia at a Lexus price, year after year after year.
Guys must be geniuses.
What a dumb-ass thing for the leadership at Starbucks to promote or try.
LOL, one can only imagine what would happen to an employee who said to a customer: "You want to know what I think? I think that idiot Trayvon Martin got his ass shot off because he was being a flaming a-hole instead of going back to his house and doing his homework. Same for the useless no-load Michael Brown in Ferguson who wanted to get his kicks by robbing and intimidating some poor guy trying to scratch out a living running a store in a bad part of town..."
You have to wonder how that would go over with the leadership at Starbucks. I am certain they would view that as "honest discourse" on race from their employees.
I kept looking at this at work today. Friggin’ hilarious!
That is hilarious!
The employees aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer but they're smarter than the CEO of Starbucks.
I enjoyed that! lol
Guys must be geniuses.
Perception is everything. They sold the perception that Starbucks customers are smarter, more urbane and just "cooler" than other folks. Lefties (and lots of apolitical folks) fell for it, hook, line and sinker.
I don't remember which one said it but I liked the reply, to paraphrase "people come in for their first cup of coffee of the day, they don't want to talk about racial issues." Aaaa, yup!
One of the gals on The Five said "I don't want to talk to anybody about anything before I've had my coffee." That perfectly describes me.
