Let me see if I have redistricting straight.

1) Democrats win, they redistrict as they please.
2) Republicans win, redistricting is thrown out by judges, Democrats redistrict as they please.

Am I close?

Right on target!

Gerrymandering must be done under black-robe supervision or it is not “legal” gerrymandering.

This is the silly putty effect of racial politics. You squeeze one part, and it bulges elsewhere.

1. Blacks raised holy hell because districts weren't black enough for them to elect a black politician. Therefore, preposterously gerrymandered districts were carved out to make sure blacks were elected. The side effect was that democrats lost seats because a core constituency was concentrated.

2. What might happen now is the black vote will be diluted and the democrats might get more democrats elected. Except they won't be black democrats.
