Transgender Homecoming King Dies From Apparent Suicide: Report

A year after Blake Brockington was voted homecoming king at East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, the transgender teen died from an apparent suicide, The Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday. Brockington, 18, was the school’s first transgender homecoming king.

When he was voted king, he told local LGBT newspaper QNotes: "I honestly feel like this is something I have to do. Nobody should be scared to be themselves, and everybody should have an equal opportunity to have an enjoyable high school experience."

The transgender youth activist became open about his identity when he was a sophomore. He explained to the Charlotte Observer in January that he never felt comfortable wearing dresses, even though he but was still forced to wear them. “It didn’t make sense. I felt like a boy," he said.

Brockington’s untimely death echoes the passing of Leelah Alcorn, the Ohio teen who scheduled her suicide note to appear on Tumblr hours after she committed suicide. Like Brockington, her parents did not accept her and her mother told her “it was a phase, that I would never truly be a girl, that God doesn’t make mistakes, that I am wrong.”

She explained to the Charlotte Observer in January that she never felt comfortable wearing dresses, even though she but was still forced to wear them. “It didn’t make sense. I felt like a boy," she said.

I knew and liked many tomboys when I was young; they also rarely liked dresses. Fortunately for them, tomboys from my generation were allowed to see themselves as girls, just active, athletic, gun-toting, outdoorsy girls. It's a shame today's tomboys are encouraged to see clothing and activity preferences as something more. It's a shame that activists embrace mental illness and encourage today's tomboys to mutilate themselves.

Ellie May Clampett was just on TV, but there were a whole lot of real girls similar to her (if less curvy). This girl could have been as happy as Ellie May (and Donna Douglas), and my many tomboy friends including one of my daughters, if the activists had allowed her to see that genetics are not a choice. It's your actions that are a choice, and putting on a dress is not required even if your chromosomes are XX, nor does mutilation change the chromosomes.

You can't change your gender: Have you ever heard of Body Integrity Identity Disorder? Long story short, there are people out there who believe they're "supposed to" have less limbs. Maybe they want to get rid of an arm or a leg. The "problem" these people run into is that surgeons consider it unethical to remove a healthy, functioning body part and refuse to saw off their limbs. Instead, they just refer these people to a psychologist. That seems to make sense, doesn't it?

Yet, when we have people who want to mutilate themselves to "change their sex," we don't treat that as a mental disorder. Instead, we take it seriously. So seriously in fact, we have 9 year olds getting hormone treatments so they can pretend to be another gender.

If a client went to a doctor and said he thought he was a cow, we wouldn't send him to a surgeon to get horns and udders attached. Yet, you can no more change your sex than you can change into a cow. Even if you have a "sex change," your sex hasn't actually changed. A man who mutilates himself to look like a woman, still isn't female. He can't have a child. Very few men are going to knowingly date a man who's surgically mutilated himself to look like a woman. This is a terrible, horrible thing we're doing as a society to these mentally ill people. Instead of getting them the mental help they need, we're catering to their pathology. It's cruel, it's wrong, and a more compassionate society wouldn't wallow so deeply in political correctness that we'd allow people to do this to themselves.

What a sad outcome for this poor girl.

Had a male coworker went in for a sex change. So everyone in that building had to attend 'classes' about his change.

I don't recall the percent but they said the suicide rate was high for this group.
About a year or two later this one also took his own life.

Look at the incident with Lexus and the dealer putting the wrong carpet on the floor of the car. One car out of millions.

No, I think the person who committed suicide was a girl who claimed to be a boy and was voted homecoming king.

She was mentally ill, and did not receive proper treatment for the mental illness.
Instead, it received medical attention that reinforced the delusion and social acceptance of the delusion that made it worse.
And once outside of school and the multi-layered protective cocoon started to fall apart, the insane child found people who didn’t participate in the delusion, and unable to cope, killed itself.

With counseling to rectify mind with biological reality, instead of mutilating the body and building on the delusion, SHE might still be here.
