That was my thought. Will the lanes be big enough for the width of a battle tank’s tread?

Howard Johnsons had the best apple pie and ice cream. That was a big treat for me as a kid traveling across PA with the family.

Ever seen a storm on the Bering Sea, it would not be drivable and it have to be a massive structure over the sea to survive long.

Yea drive through Russia and be stopped by Russian thugs every few miles and be robbed, beaten and raped...or just outright killed.

Cool. If I were younger, the road trip of a lifetim3

Were I younger, I'd ride shotgun with ya! I would LOVE that trip!

Wish it were up and running now - I'm going to Kodiak for my birthday this summer - do some salmon fishing - and visiting my daughter and family. etc - my 80th. Would love to be able to jump in a car and continue on - drive through Russia...

So are our Interstates.

Indeed. But we're not communists.

I guess I should have been clearer -- much clearer.

When the Russians built a highway in Afghanistan, they built it to support military equipment. Getting the picture now?

“When the Russians built a highway in Afghanistan, they built it to support military equipment. Getting the picture now?”

Sure, had the picture all along. Guess I should have been clearer too. I was merely pointing out that both sides have used national defense as a means of justifying their big interstate/ cross-coubtry highway systems. In fact, that’s how Eisenhower sold our interstate system to congress.
