Is the VA the only section of the military that keeps records?

Does she not have any paperwork from her period in the service?

I have no doubt VA could lose records, just seems like there would be other ways for her to prove she was in the military.

Many military records are transferred over to the VA when you are discharged with a disability. Her's was 40%.

And yes, she has copies of her records.

And the VA won’t even read the medical and military records that she kept – all of them, for proof.

If you want to read about a case that will make you want to throw things read up on Stanley Friedman. WWII vet and it took them six decades and a lawsuit to find his records and then three more years for them to start giving him his benefits.
