The further I travel down this rabbit hole, the more I feel divorced from the good conservative people that I choose to call my own. I hold some stories back from our readers. My thought is that people have a hard enough time embracing the basic fact that our government is ( corrupt on both sides of the aisle.) If you knew how corrupt I thought these people really were, I feel like you'd rush to the phone and soon bad men would show up to haul me off in a straitjacket.
Do they still do that?

It's a little more complicated than that. At the time of Zero's birth, the natural born citizen definition required only one citizen parent -- if that parent was of sufficient age.
And Stanley Ann wasn't...
Consequently, the movement that Garrison is concerned with may have had nothing to do with Obama.

I think you are correct....one parent must be an American Citizen...all military brats are CITIZENS.

2) Father not U.S. citizen, but did have immigrant visa at the time (I believe that's the case)

Obama’s mother was not old enough to give him citizenship at that time.
The people voted of Obama, and I dare say the ones who did could care less about his citizenship status. The root of the corruption is us. “We the people” have brought on the downfall of this country, and the corrupt people in Washington are giving us what we want.
I know, I know, the Constitution and the law still matter, but the Constitution doesn’t mean anything, if the people of this country don’t ratify it in their hearts and minds. When we elect people like Obama to office, we are rebelling against Constitutional law.
I recall second grade in Ramstein in 1964. My sister had just been born and they made a big deal in school teaching us that we were eligible to become President because being stationed there. It was one of few loopholes. Dad AND mom both had to be US citizens.
Actually, when we elect people like Obama, we are rebelling against God. God and Satan know it whether the people who elected him do or don’t.
But it seems to focus simply on whether you were a citizen at naturalized, which was not the distinction that most of us remember.
The question never really came up before the last few years.
In Cruz' case, his father was at least an immigrant alien. He was on the path to citizenship, which Obama's father was not. And the ambivalence towards us shows the wisdom of worrying about who the parents were: We know he's loyal to Muslims and non-Colonial Kenya. In fact, he's got a chip on his shoulder about it.
Unfortunately, the MSM seems to have made this into a “too little, too late” issue.
We aren't suffering from false memory syndrome. It used to be that 2 parents (note the plural) and born in the country mean't NATURAL BORN. See here:Natural Born Citizen
Note that most of the other arguments worry about simple citizenship. The key point is that Natural Born Citizenship is a higher threshold and did not simply mean "not naturalized, but born a citizen".
It went further, and de Vattel's definition of it was the one that was presumed.
There are counter arguments. Unfortunately, at least in my case, I don't buy them. I think the Kenyan is argument enough. He has done so much damage to our Republic, it may be beyond repair.
Perhaps we can be a bit more discerning this time around. Unfortunately, the need to WIN get's in the way of that, and a brilliant, charismatic guy like Cruz is hard to walk away from. Perhaps he's an argument for a looser definition.
But we don't know, do we? And the evidence we currently have doesn't help.
I have paid attention to the debate over the years and realize like you that it is futile no matter who is “right”.
Oboma is proof of what happens even if he is just a sock puppet for whomever pulls his strings.
It is defined in 8 USC Chapter 12. All people not born inside the US to 2 citizen parents are naturalized by US code 8. All others are natural born. Natural born citizens do not require USC 8 to define their citizenship.
