New city taxes are great for the conservative cause! All Republicans should advocate and support them. Cities should be given total freedom to raise taxes all they want. Give a libtard enough big gov rope and they will hang themselves.

I'm a 30 minute drive from two huge malls in New Hampshire. No sales tax.All my big purchases over the last 5 years or so (several plasma TVs,several really nice laptops, two really nice cameras, etc) have been sales tax free either thanks to New Hampshire,Amazon or a couple of big NYC electronics stores.

Of course I'm required to report all such purchases on my state income tax return...and pay tax on them...and I *promise* that I do *exactly* that! ;-)

I purchased a new motorcycle in California while still a resident of Idaho (unchanged since June 2001). The dealer is compelled to use the sales tax rate at your California residential address for the tax rate. In my case, that worked to my advantage. I sent the MCOA cert to Idaho to have the vehicle titled and registered. I paid the Idaho rate.

At a later time, I purchased a used Harley from a private seller. It was already registered in CA. I was assessed an arbitrary CA sales tax of 8.5% by DMV since I didn't have a permanent CA address. I had to purchase CA specific insurance to register as well.

The staff at El Cajon Harley had many customers from the city of San Diego that were taken aback that they could not avail themselves of the lower sales tax rate in El Cajon vs purchasing from a dealer inside the city of San Diego.

I noticed early on that the Borders bookstores (when they were in business) had different tax rates based on city location. That influenced my choice of stores to patronize. Lower taxes win if the goods were in stock.

Government will not stop until it is starved...or we become a Communist nation where there is no private property or business.

Government must eat and they only have one way of feeding themselves, taxation for their own benefit.
