IRS’s Lois Lerner won’t be charged with contempt
The Washington Times ^ | April 1, 2015 | Stephen Dinan

The Obama administration informed House Speaker John A. Boehner this week it will not prosecute former IRS executive Lois G. Lerner for contempt of Congress, concluding that she did not waive her Fifth Amendment rights to avoid answering questions when she was called to testify nearly two years ago.

Ms. Lerner, the figure at the center of the IRS’s tea party targeting scandal, is still facing investigation over the intrusive scrutiny of conservative groups, but the decision by U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen not to pursue the contempt charge approved by the U.S. House does away with at least some of her legal jeopardy.

“We are gratified but not surprised by today’s news,” said William W. Taylor III, Ms. Lerner’s lawyer. “Anyone who takes a serious and impartial look at this issue would conclude that Ms. Lerner did not waive her Fifth Amendment rights. It is unfortunate that the majority party in the House put politics before a citizen’s constitutional rights.”

House Republicans, joined by a half-dozen Democrats, voted to hold Ms. Lerner in contempt of Congress last year after she appeared before the House Oversight Committee in May 2013 and delivered a statement proclaiming her innocence and then refusing to answer the committee’s questions about her activities as head of the IRS division that reviewed groups’ applications for nonprofit status.

Ms. Lerner refused the questions citing her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

The GOP care about the Chamber of commerce and big business along with getting their money so they can be elected again.

These last few days I can’t write on here what I think.

Republicans are all talk and no walk. All bark and no bite. All smoke and no fire.

It is a soulless party with no convictions or courage.

Not only will you never see a Conservative president again in your lifetime, you will never see a REPUBLICAN president again in your lifetime.

I fear that there is a possibility you might be right. It certainly isn't a good thing is it?

Won’t her POTUS pardon from Caliph Baraq give her immunity?

Why did we elect a Republican congress if they are just going to sit on their ass?

Not only will you never see a Conservative president again in your lifetime, you will never see a REPUBLICAN president again in your lifetime.

The only way our Republic can be restored is a good king/tyrant, we currently have a bad one.

My guess is they won’t even whine.

Just remember that supposed conservatives like Jeff Sessions not only approved his appointment, but went out if his way to compliment him as a decent nonpolitical person.

‘Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, for example, said he was sure that Mr. Holder would be “a responsible legal officer and not a politician.”’

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/03/us/politics/03holder.html?hp&_r=1&;

With our side giving that much encouragement, what hope do we have?

Laz is probably right. A conservative could never be allowed to be elected, at all cost. If a conservative ever got elected again a lot of people will go to prison.

I did not think of it from that standpoint, but you may be right. These slime sucking scum bag liberals, are trying to stay out of prison, so I can see why they would work feverishly to keep a conservative from being president. Their own physical freedom is at stake.
