No, Dave. They’re not. It’s a popular misconception I know. But there are hundreds of us at least walking the streets of Chicago legally but discretely armed every single day.

Please explain - I thought handguns were banned in Chicago. Is concealed carry legal? Or are you just making the point that the Second Amendment gives the right and it can't be taken away by city gun grabbers?

Concealed carry has been legal in Illinois and Chicago since early last year. Chicagos draconian hand gun banned was also thrown out by the Courts around the same time. See McDonald v Madigan.

The permit process is a bit of a pain but the law was well designed and there are remarkably few “No Guns” signs to be found. As a result there are thousands of us legally carrying already and the State Police have a 3 month backlog of pending applications.
