The coaches’ problem is if they think they’re fit to speak on the topic from such an elevated position, they need to be sure they speak sincerely and with wisdom. Not just follow the crowd.

Unfortunately, few if any of these personalities in big sports have the ability to think independently.

This has been the worst NCAA tournament that I can recall. It feels more like a coronation for Calapari and Kentucky.

Surely you jest.........Kentucky squeaked by Notre Dame (shouldn't have) and will be defeated by Wisconsin....This has been the most balanced final four that I have ever seen.....Wisconsin/Michigan State would be great, but M.S. has to play beyond themselves........Wisconsin just has to show up.

Looks like a tepid statement so when they hold their pregame / postgame press conferences and the media tries to make the entire discussion all about the law vs. basketball they can all say “we have released a statement and have nothing to add to that.”

No, they’ve had to actually win their games and will have to win two more to earn it.

Fine. Then forfeit the games and stay home.

If not you’re flaming hypocrites.

Their teams should stay home if this is about principles.

I won’t feel nearly as bad now, skipping the animal fest, altogether. After all, can you name who won the animal fest last year, or the Super Bowl, or the World Series last year or Wimbledon or the Master’s or any ‘sporting’ event in the last decade ? The Academy Award best picture, winner of the Hardware Duck Pawn Idol Dancing Ice Survivor Apple Iwatch Grand Prix semi-finalists ? Concentrate.

The coaches probably do NOT think they’re fit to speak on this....it was just demanded of them by the media.

Yeah, I”m a Duke fan, since I was about 3. Never hated NC, NC State, or UConn or Syracuse or a zillion other teams who’s fans now think they hate Duke or Coach K. I have little patience for those who jump on the “hate Duke” bandwagon, and cannot put together 3 syllables coherently to explain why.

Sorry I lumped you into that category. My bad...

(BTW, the ESPN Special on Laettner exposed this kind of idiotic thinking).

On those who follow Duke for no other reason than they’re good? Well, I welcome them - I remember when the bus was empty. And BTW, the Zags have the same kind of following. My wife is one of them (all the way in NC). Small schools like Duke and Gonzaga NEED those bandwagon jumpers.

The Yankees, meanwhile, have more fans with 15 miles of Yankee Stadium than most teams do world wide.

They don’t care who they offend as long as the ratings are high and the network gives the NCAA millions. Money is God in America.

Keep in mind that the NCAA exists because universities choose to belong to it. If the NCAA does not toe the PC line, it will cease to exist as universities withdraw and form another association for their sports teams.
