Revolt?!?!
What they’re saying is:
“You lent me some money. I’m not gonna pay you back.
I’m revolting.”
I guess that sounds about right...in a way
“If I collect 14 others to go on a income tax strike because the IRS breaks the law, in several respects, will we get invited to DC to negotiate a new tax code?”
:-)
All it takes to eliminate millions of student loans is a simple presidential pardon. I’m guessing mid October 2016 to ensure Lizzy Warren secures the yoot vote.
That is, to pressure the government to repay these loans by taking money from responsible citizens.
[[Remember those 15 people who refused to repay their federal student loans? Their debt strike has picked up 85 more disgruntled borrowers willing to jeopardize their financial future to pressure the government into forgiving their student loans.]]
Well now, perhaps we should all refuse to repay our home equity loans as well- demanding htat the government ‘forgive our debt’, and perhaps we should all run out right now and charge our way to happiness then refuse to pay the charges demanding that the government absolve us of our debt.
Dibs on Trumps mansions! (Just charge it to my account)
Who said crime doesn’t pay?
Another generation of born democrats with mostly worthless college degrees looking for handouts.
These moochers want the government to abuse its power to extort money from people who worked for it and give it to them because they were, and are, too stupid to make good financial decisions.
They are also unethical and too lazy to meet their own legal obligations.
Many of the people they want to steal the money from worked their way through college.
Many others did not go to college themselves because they couldn’t afford it and were wise enough to avoid incurring massive college loan debt.
People like this should not be permitted to vote - they will always vote for the politician who promises to steal the most money from others and use it to gime them Free Stuff.
She may need a little steam machine to get some of the pages apart .....
Anyone who has their student loans forgiven will never be hired by me.
Well!Don’t expect me to pay your Damned debts.I have problems of my own.
These students that agreed to that debt should pay it back or suffer the consequences.
[[College tuition has increased 1000% since 1980, and the ONLY reason that happened was because the feral government handed out student loans like crack cocaine.]]
Well that isn’t the only reason- professors started demanding outrageous pay (and getting it), and unions drove up costs, and lawsuits drove prices up and the schools then needed exorbitant insurance to protect themselves from lawsuits etc- lots o f reasons why it went up- but yeah- the student loans was a major factor, and many defaulted on those loans, and the schools them upped tuition to try to recoup some of those losses
None of those things could have happened had the students not been able to borrow the money to make them happen.
"The deadbeats and welchers are revolting!"
They certainly are...
“We are scrimping and cutting back on everything possible in our lives - to make sure my kids dont come out of college with debt.”
I just made the last tuition payment for my last child’s college education. I know of what you speak.
These heavily indebted kids are doomed if not allowed to declare bankruptcy. I’m for it, if in return future money is loaned with sound underwriting criteria. This will spell the end of academia as we know it.
That would be a very good thing.
That’s why these “colleges” shouldn’t be eligible to receive loan consideration at all. It’s a racket, built to access taxpayer dollrs, nothing more.
Ewwwwww..........TMI
The schulbs who took on $100K in debt for a degree in XYZ Studies and go back to flipping burgers, but they will at least have 30% less debt to service.
Or, they can default, have their degree cancelled and have the government go back to the institution which awarded it for redress. A reduced and delayed measure of justice, but still a measure of justice.
Except there are no longer any "debtors prisons"
Oops! -- forgot about the IRS debtors prisons which are quite active (unless you're a favored minority like Sharpton, et al.)
Normally I would agree with you. However, from reading the article, it sounds like the specific colleges in question engaged in possibly illegal behavior including deception and fraud. If that is the case, and the loans were obtained due to a fraud perpetrated on the borrower, then some kind of relief would seem to be appropriate in this particular instance.
Of course the problem is that once these are granted relief, everyone who ever took out a student loan will want them reduced or forgiven, even if no fraud or other illegal activity occurred.
“If they borrowed the money, they are obligated to pay it back.”
Not if they were coerced into it...
