By the Time I Get to Phoenix - Glenn Campbell Nowhere in this song does the singer state where his journey to Oklahoma begins. I figure that the starting point is Buckeye or maybe Goodyear, Ariz. If he were starting from farther west, he would be going through Prescott and/or Flagstaff, and if he were coming from the south or southwest, he would more likely be going through Casa Grande and Coolidge.
It's about 800 miles from Buckeye or Goodyear to Texhoma, the closest town in Oklahoma, mostly over two-lane roads in 1967, when the song came out, so if you wanted to get there in a day, you would have had to step on the gas.
