There wasn’t a Constitutional crisis in 1964. Will is wrong.

“That was the difference between 43,129,566 votes President Lyndon Johnson received”

The YOUNGEST of those people, the ones just over 21 years old in 1964 were born in 1943 and turn 72 this year. They are the FDR/JFK Democrats that loved the country, fought for the country, but did get caught up in idol worship. They also voted for a TOTALLY DIFFERENT Democrat Party, at least in their formative years.

90% (or so) of those people are dead now. We’re no longer competing for their votes. FDR/JFK are just vague names to them now. And, of course, the Democrat Party has TOTALLY CHANGED.

Mr. Will would do himself a BIG FAVOR by doing his own research, rather than listening to Karl Rove or whoever is spoon-feeding him.

George Will jumps over Reagan to get to the Goldwater example of how the Democrats of 1964 won an election that who very few parallels to the Democrats of 2014.

The D party is in shambles, breaking apart (again, largely due to Obama but now also Hillary...both extremely polarized, and polarizing people)

Didn't you get the message, Citizen? You are not allowed to use the word "polarizing" with respect to Hillary Clinton.

Please report to Room 101 immediately.

From what I understand, Goldwater was demonized in the press, and many people thought he was a warmonger.

This was one of the first highly successful campaigns of disinformation and personal destruction waged by the Democrat/Media alliance.

They went on to gain more power and destroy many other good Americans.

Robert Bork and Sarah Palin are two that come to mind.

Yes, and even Richard Nixon too.

Think of the massive criminality of Obama compared to Richard Nixon's transgressions - minor by the standards of today.

It is like a mountain compared to a molehill.
Yet the media turned the molehill into a mountain and ignores the mountain of Obama's dishonesty, his criminality and his traitorous conduct.

Ted Cruz is waking up what used to known as the “Moral Majority” in a way no conservative has done since Reagan. GOP-e and Dems know this and are very threatened.

Why Will is comparing his ‘theory’ (whatever that means) for running to Goldwater is beyond me. Today, when the 1964 election is discussed, the little girl pick a daisy campaign ad is given as the reason for Goldwater's loss. Even though the ad only ran once, the 3 networks seized and ran with it.

The nuclear threat we face today is from Iran, not a war hawk candidate.

The “15,951,378 facts” in 1964 are irrelevant to 2016. In 1964 there was no Internet. Our news was disseminated from a 3 network monopoly. And besides, Uncle Walter would never lie. Today the voters who care have a much better understanding of both domestic and foreign affairs.

Along with the increase of low information voters, there has been a corresponding increase of conservatives staying home on election day because they have lost faith in the system. I believe the closer we get to 2016, more Blue Dog Democrats will be attracted to Cruz or [most] any GOP candidate. Both the GOP-e and Dems are desperately trying to find an issue which will hurt Cruz, factual or not.

After thought: If McNoBoner & RNC would think out of the box, an updated Daisy ad would be perfect.

No better time to run an ad showing little girl playing game on Mom's iPhone..The screen fades into the computer center controlling Iran's nuclear arsenal and then hearing count down in Farsi (?). Fade back to little girl and mushroom cloud.

But McNoBoner & RNC do not think out of the box. Even if they did an ad such as that would not run because it would be a “mean” ad. McCain would stroke out and have a simultaneous coronary because it would be a negative ad.

Was anyone going to beat LBJ the year after Kennedy was assassinated? Of course not and is an apples and oranges argument.

Cruz is our best chance.

He is risen

One would do well to support the rightmost candidate who has a serious chance of winning.

A decent point. Now it remains to be seen which candidates that rubric includes and precludes. Cruz is the only one to declare, his resume is beyond reproach, he is already #2 behind big-money Jeb, and the most recent poll I saw had 48 percent of the voters naming the conservative candidates (Cruz 13, Walker 12, Paul 9, Rubio 7, and Carson 7)... with 34 percent going to the GOPe names (Bush 20, Huckabee 8, Christie 6), and 15 percent going to "Other/Undecided" (among 6 or more other names).

Clearly, the support for a staunch limited-government candidate is there, no matter what Mr George Will says happened 50 years ago. All that really remains to be seen is if the 5 "TEA" candidates will split their votes more than the 3 GOPe candidates do... and we have over a year to watch that unfold. Declaring anyone with over 7 percent of the GOP vote right now as "not having a serious chance of winning" this early in the game says more about the speaker than the candidates.

(As much as I love Carson, and want a high cabinet post for him, I see him as one of the first to drop out. Paul will probably stay in for far too long, because that's what his father usually did. Hopefully Rubio can drop out fast, urging more Latino votes for Cruz, and leave Cruz/Walker as the solid ticket option over the Establishment guys that the MSM will be scheming for. I pray that Cruz and Walker have people in each camp discussing joining the other's ticket should they win/lose.)

George Will: Atheist, Tone-deaf. Back in 2012 he was telling us to vote for Rick Perry (after Perry’s melt-down).

IMO...he’s nothing but a gasbag. I believe he is an atheist, if he doesn’t believe in God why should I pay any attention to any of his rambling thoughts? Everyone serves someone or something if he does not look to God for his wisdom them he is not someone that I care to follow.

Indeed!
we are forbidden to apply any non-complimentary words to Hillary!
it is AMAZING she’d dare do something as ‘audacious’ as to try to Force admiration and support..... but then again there’s been a whole lot of that these past 6 years and 3 months

it was all foreseen...

As for well-known columnist George Will, Levin noted that “in 1979 and ’80, he said ‘Reagan can’t win’! First he backed Howard Baker and then he backed George H.W. Bush.”

The point being?

“These aren’t the people who are going to provide the wisdom and judgment and foresight when we’re in a battle like this,” Levin explained.

Maxmax ? What Willard George, and the squishes of the middle reply on is a little thing called conventional wisdom.

However Ted Cruz is anything but conventional.

This will be a unconventional campaign in a very critical election.

Even the freedom fighters during the American Revolution fight with unconventional warfare with gorilla tactics against the British.

Yes a lot of the fighting was fought on conventional battle fields, but, that was only part of that war.

There were smaller flash attacks on the British using the knowledge of our terrain to our advantage.

Believe it or not George Washington was a master of deception on the battle field against the British using syops phycological warfare.

George Washington made the British think that they were out numbered with cannons, but didn’t have the gun powder to use them.

George Washington made the use of dummies to make the British think that he had more men then he really did.
