The Obama administration and Florida are negotiating over a $1 billion Medicaid funding stream.
lorida's negotiations with the Obama administration over Medicaidand by extension, Obamacare's Medicaid expansiongot even more complicated Monday, when Republican Gov. Rick Scott walked back his previous support for expanding the low-income health-insurance program.
The Associated Press first reported Scott's change of heart Monday. In a statement, the governor effectively blamed the Obama administration's posturing in the ongoing negotiations over a Medicaid funding stream, the Low-Income Pool, which helps pay for uncompensated care.
"Given that the federal government said they would not fund the federal LIP program to the level it is funded today, it would be hard to understand how the state could take on even more federal programs that CMS could scale back or walk away from," Scott said.

Sounds to me like Team Obama was flip flopping, and Scott called them on it.
The Florida media has attacked Scott from day 1. They never miss an opportunity. They have made up every lie they can think of.
Anytime a conservative does the right thing, the Leftist media tries to make him/her look like a flip-flopper.
If a conservative has to walk back his positions to appear conservative, then he probably isn't a conservative.
They have attacked him more than President Bush
Scott was correct when he didn't rush to expand Medicaid under obamacare, in round one.
This is round two,and sometime in June I guess we will see if he was also correct in not setting up a “state exchange”.
Tallahassee is not in love with Rick Scott, because he is not a partisan party player, he is more interested in governing.
Which is why we citizens elected him in the first place.
“If a conservative has to walk back his positions to appear conservative, then he probably isn’t a conservative.”
Well stated. Scott should have NEVER taken the bait on Medicaid expansion - many other states did not. Doing so shows that he is unprincipled and now makes his political future more difficult.
I doubt that I’m more informed than Rick Scott but I thought from the beginning that was why 2/3 of states failed to set up their own state exchanges. From the beginning, I thought it was the feds funded 100% year one and over some years ween themselves from funding Medicaid and LIP because eventually the states would be left to fully fund it. That’s why most red states never created their own exchanges.
I could be wrong but I think that’s how works.
At least Scott caught the scam before he signed on the dotted line. The Medicaid Expansion program is an outrageous pump and dump scam. After they get you to sign on, they just change the rules and you are left hanging.
Me too. I think he also sees the handwriting on the wall regarding Obamacare’s eventual demise—and the states being STUCK with these expensive exchanges.
Hey, I am all for states choosing to do what they want to do for their own citizenry—I am fully against the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT cramming a plan down our throats; that is the Constitutional problem with any federal “plan”.
Sure doesn’t help when conservatives are ripping another conservative. Rick Scott is a conservative guy. Does he walk on water? Nope. And neither do any of his bashers on this board.
