They are about self-defense! Self-defense from a tyrannical government!

Thanks. It just dropped off the radar. Like to find out the “official” status. I’m sure they can selectively prosecute “troublemakers”.

Scumbags like Delauro are the reason we have a second amendment.

"Rolls"? That word implies passing through committee and onto the floor for a quick vote. Has even one committee considered it yet? How about "tossed into the in box where it eventually died"?

When the people fear the gov’t, there is tyranny.
When the gov’t fears the people, there is freedom.

Now, logically, in order for their to be freedom, there has to be something the people have or can do that the gov’t fears...

What happened in CT with their AWB and magazine ban? Weren’t there tens of thousands owners that weren’t complying? Never heard what happened.

As a CT resident, now with an unconstitutional 5-year long gun certificate, it is well determined no one dares arrest anyone under this CT law because that defendant will attain standing. Once there is standing the NRA and other organizations have all their ducks in a row to take this all the way to SCOTUS. The CT law WILL be tossed as clear infringement. The state doesn't dare stir the waters on this one.

s by Connecticut Democratic Rep. Rosa DeLauro, The Hill reported. “Assault weapons are not about hunting, or even self-defense,” she said.

And your point is? The 2nd Admendment has nothing to do with hunting. Niot even basic self defense. It is a right to ensure that citizens are always able to defend themseleves AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT. Rep DeLauro a well know far to the left person would do well to actually read some America history nand gain some understanding of our Constitutional Rights.

There is no reason on earth, other than to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible, that anyone needs a gun designed for a battlefield.” DeLauro wants...

Well, I guess the cops don't need them either.

I remember the good old days when Thomas J Dodd and Emanuel Cellar only wanted to register handguns. Long guns will not be affected, they said. How did that work out!
Then, when California proposed an anti-gun bill, one of the rifles to be banned along with so-called “assault rifles”, was the old Winchester Lever Action rifles.
These were removed from the bill, then the bill set aside. They then released Pat Purdy from the mental institution for the 8th time, he got an AK and shot up a school yard, then himself with a Taurus pistol he LEGALLY bought in California (even passed the waiting period).

The anti-gun bill was rushed out, and passed before anyone could say.. “What Happened!”

NEVER EVER TRUST A POLITICIAN WITH YOUR GUN RIGHTS!

it’s just a straw man argument either way and it always was. The actual argument was always about carrying them around in a grocery store. You want to fixate on this ridiculous nomenclature debate because it is much easier than defending the carrying of AR15s and AK47s and such in the grocery store where there is no sporting purpose to be found.

and carrying around tricked out “modern sporting rifles” in the grocery store doesn’t feed into the scare mongers’ hands? That’s what the argument between Crim and I was always about incidentally. The nomenclature argument is his straw man.

It didn’t used to be such a controversial thing to carry all sort and type of gun around in public. That is, until scare mongers started infiltrating society and being given sway in the town square as it were.

I guess there’s some room for argument that discretion is the better part of valor, but the flip side is that a right not expressed or practiced is soon lost through desuetude also.

Discretion might be the better part of valor...but surrender is the worse part of discretion.
