Rand Paul is a pandering idiot. Even his dad wouldn’t say something this stupid. Well, okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but the idea of Rand Paul running for president, especially with comments like yesterday, is comical. Maybe that’s his role, comic relief?

You mean the Rand Paul who ran and won a senate seat as a Tea Party
candidate but has been anything but a Tea Party Senator.

Plus Paul supported and campaigned the weak kneed sister Mitch McConnell.

Good riddance to Paul.

because he knows people like Thomas have a lot of columns to write before anyone starts paying the slightest attention to presidential politics

I've been trying to support his inclusion in the race, but this line was a huge blunder. He won't win, but having him in the race can be very useful and helpful for many months. Getting his base (which has a LOT of limited-government sentiment) motivated, and then transferred to a solid limited-government candidate (Cruz please!!) at the right time, would be a huge help next November. Don't trash him and cast him aside just yet...

But again, this was a really dumb thing to say. We don't support laws based on the racial outcomes. We support race-neutral governance, and always have. (Democrats fought for slavery, passed Jim Crow, and passed Affirmative action. They simply changed which skin tones they wanted to pander to.)

"...I like that he wants to fight the GOP establishment. I like that he wants to roll back big government. And I like that he wants to expand the base to include more young people and minorities...."

You get all that with Ted Cruz without the nuttiness.

Much ado about nothing.
Rand’s going nowhere.

I’m CONVINCED that Paul is running to get his name out, not because he actually expects to win (which is why he wasn’t going to run if he was forced to give up his Senate seat).

He wants to be a SPOILER. A Third Party person that pulls the rug out of the Republican nominee.

...and he will do that, if we nominate someone like Jeb. There will be MANY MILLIONS of Republicans that will want to “send a message” to the Party, as they did in 1992.

For Cruz, JUST THE OPPOSITE. If Rand runs, he will pick up a few votes to the left of Cruz, but will likely pick up a lot more DEMOCRAT votes, from Millennials that don’t want a geriatric to be our next president.

Yep. His one shining moment was his drone filibuster. First rate. Other than that, I have no idea what he’s accomplished. Now he’s a pandering party toady while supposedly taking on the same party in his rhetoric.

Rand, the apple didn't fall far from the Ron tree, Paul, is now on with Megyn Kelly and he STINKS ! He's yelling AT her, being rude, complaining about how he's being treated, and told her that he'd prefer to sit in an easy chair with Charlie Rose and have a "friendly" chit chat for an hour.

This thing is NOT ready for prime time at all and is a white version of wee barry when it comes to being extremely thin skinned! His whinging and whining is disgusting ! And his calling everyone who doesn't agree with him, NEO-CONS", shows just how stupid he is.

His rude, nasty, and puerile supports won’t, for the most part, vote for anyone else, once he’s knocked out of the race.

Rand Paul

“The thing is about abortion—and about a lot of things—is that I think people get tied up in all these details of, sort of, you’re this or this or that, or you’re hard and fast (on) one thing or the other,” Paul told Elliott. “I’ve supported both bills with and without (exceptions), you know. In general, I am pro-life.

There are a couple of ways to take “disproportionately incarcerates people of color...”. First he means black, because Asians for example are not incarcerated at a higher rate, and they are people of color. So if he means that of people convicted of the same crime, blacks are incarcerated at a higher rate, he could have a point, if the evidence backed it up. If he simply means raw numbers, not accounting for higher rates of criminality, that’s absurd. At the very least he should be called to explain himself.

The GOPe’s will prop Paul up as long as it takes to help split the conservative primary votes,
thus allowing a Bush or someone else like Bush to slip through.

You have a very short memory.

...his calling everyone who doesn't agree with him, NEO-CONS",

And THAT is where I turned it off.

I was going to give him a fair chance after his confrontation with that Guthrie broad, but no, he can KMA.

My support stays with Ted Cruz.

(Not that I had seriously considered giving it to anyone else.)

He should run against Hillary on a Democrat ticket.

A pandering, dark horse dick.
Yes, I said it, a dick, a condesending douche bag.

He didn’t have a good media day today arguing with those who interviewed him.

He was whinning about why they are asking him questions about why he is constantly changing his views on military funding.

I think you are on to something. What do you think Cruz will do to avert this. I hope he is a good chess player.

Rand is not my first choice. But I think this is excessive.

Maybe a little thoughtless but if you put it to him directly--do you oppose prosecution of violent criminal conduct black on white on racial balance grounds, he would say no.

Easy to pick some of the campaign statements apart but facts are that Rand is pretty close to the center of gravity here.

I, like most people here, am for a robust National Defense posture. But I do not perceive that the 800 military bases we have scattered around the world enhance our National Security posture either--they are they to project the power of American empire and the facts are that the real power of American empire is our productive economic system which is in decline.

I'm not an isolationist; I am not a peacenik; but I believe we can do a much more efficient job with our National Defense dollars than we are presently doing. I have no problem with Senator Paul advocating that we look at where the money goes.

We can get rid of fraud and serial killer laws too, then, because those disproportionately impact whites over other races.

In Rand Paul’s future, any law that arrests any race over another is a law to be abolished.

Look for Rand to set up a new Office of Race Statistics to govern all of this.
