On the other hand I am sometimes a bit confused by the moral contradictions in these stories. For instance the fact that the bible says that Lot offered his daughters to the men for sex, rather than his guests. Then later that his daughters lay with him sexually. What are the lessons there?
The lesson is that people sin, especially when they use their own judgment of what’s right or wrong. Not every story in the Bible is a positive example. Some are clearly, “Don’t do these wrong, stupid things: you see how badly it turned out!”
