I've come to the conclusion, the USA is not a reliable ally. Finance and Wall Street will ensure the USA and UK, for example, remain friends. But facing an increasingly fractured and divisive culture at home which doesn't agree what it wants, as well as varied special interests being involved, policy in places like the Mid-East or Africa will be subject to great strains.
