Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday accused left-leaning reporters and editors of practicing a new brand of “yellow journalism” in the form of fact check articles, which he said purport to catch politicians stretching the truth, but instead tend to advance the Democratic agenda.
Cruz, who is running for president in 2016, sat down with CNBC for an interview, and was asked about his joke that the U.S. should send 125,000 IRS agents to the border. CNBC reporter John Harwood host pointed out that there are only 25,000 IRS agents, and the rest are just IRS workers.
Harwood also asked why people should trust Cruz when he says Obamacare is killing jobs, when the U.S. has been adding jobs “at a very healthy clip.”
Cruz replied by saying the IRS line is one he uses as a joke on the campaign trail, and said left-leaning reporters have been reduced to fact checking jokes he makes.
“There is a game that is played by left-wing editorial writers,” Cruz said. “It’s this new species of yellow journalism called PolitiFact. Colloquially I was referring to all the employees as agents.”
“That particular stat is in a joke I used,” he added. “So, they’re literally fact-checking a joke. I say that explicitly tongue in cheek.”

You underestimate the resolve of the mediots, and overestimate Cruz’s ability.
In this age of computer generated documents, and paid liars, expect some sort of meme to emerge if it looks like Cruz may be a strong challenger. And not just once, but over and over.
My suspicions are that Cruz will have some woman accuse him of some sort of sexual overture in the vein of Anita Hill, or similar. It will be a lie, but that’s not even in the mix. The seriousness of the charge etc. It won’t be just once, but several times, several different women alleging some impropriety that may or may not have occurred.
It will be an outright ambush in some interview when it will do the most damage and benefit Hillary or Warren the most.
What do you think the odds of it happening as I describe? Me, I put it at 80% or better.
The documents that Cruz will generate will speak Truth to Power. This challenger is more than they can handle. Battling Cruz is far above their pay level.
The only accusations that women will make will come from their fantasies because he is the strong man they desire! He will get the female vote.
You are correct that there is about to be an ambush but the mediots won't realize that it is they that are being ambushed until Ted springs the trap. You're going to love watching this play out!

They can try to marginalize him all they want but Ted Cruz has plenty of money to go the long haul up to the wire and his support is very strong among his supporters, i.e. broken glass conservative voters.

The reason I chose the sex angle is they pulled that shi’ite on McAmnesty in October 2008 that he allegedly had an affair with some woman. There was no evidence that there was a sexual angle to it, yet they piled on that meme for all it was worth.
They are going to play dirty with Cruz. If he can play this out without getting stung it will, no doubt, be a sight to behold. We’ve been watchng this nonsense since 1980 and we both know the formula. I’m just waiting for them to try it.
I want to see Cruz eat their lunches. I want to see him take Hillary Clinton to jail... which just might happen under a President Cruz and Attorney General Trey Gowdy.
The problem with “fact checking” is that no one verifies the veracity of the official checks.
“Fact checking” isn’t interviewing witnesses and going back to the source. It is doing a Google search and saying yes, liberally edited Wikipedia says this, so it is true.
