I understand how you feel, but #2 is not really about the Death Penalty itself so much as it is about the government.

So far, if the government really wanted to put its opposition to death, we would see plenty of individuals getting fragged left and right.

I'm in Red Hampshire, and I said the same as you some time ago. You can put your salt and pepper away...the parents of the dead child just came out and said they do NOT want the death penalty applied. Am I surprised? Not at all.
