The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is cutting the Russian delegation at its Brussels headquarters as part of a new rule capping the size of a partner country's mission to 30 people, a NATO official said Friday.

NATO's relationship with Russia has deteriorated over the past year because of the crisis in Ukraine.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov was quoted by state news agency Tass as saying: “It is a strange decision that smacks of the Cold War period.”

In 2009, NATO expelled two senior Russian diplomats attached to the country's NATO mission it accused of spying. They included Vasily Chizhov, the son of the longtime ambassador to the EU.

You think that Russia and Ukraine, and Sweden are part of the NATO alliance?

They aren’t, they are part of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council

Not that big a deal. The cut is to the Official Delegations members, not staff.
NATO HQ is a huge leaky sieve of intelligence, anyway.

The Russian Ambassador to NATO and three official staffers will still have unescorted access to all areas, anyway.

Some nations have many more than 30 “official” Delegates. Most are political appointments or “honorary’s”

Russians don’t do sarcasm very well. Irony, they have mastered.

NATO should save $2000.00 USD a year just on toilet paper alone.

NATO has decided to introduce a guideline limiting the number of staff in partner delegations to 30.... These guidelines apply to “all” partners.

Each partner state will have the chance to decide for themselves which staff members to suspend from their missions. NATO gave the 41 partners states, nine months to comply with the order.

So..., is it that big of a deal to go from 50 people to 30?
and since Nato overall is full of spies from every country represented.
