Has anybody else noticed how many sheriff's deputies were chasing this one guy? If I were the Sheriff, I would be asking just how so many deputies got to be involved in this chase.

Just maybe a total of 4 or 6 cops at most plus the copter pilot should have been on this chase. Instead, it looks like every deputy on duty in the surrounding 50 miles got to go after this guy. In the meantime, no one else who may have needed a cop could find one.

That’s a big part of the problem. Too many cops now get involved in these incidents and there is little command and control. The crowd mentality takes effect and then pets and innocent people get shot in the confusion. It’s become all about overwhelming force to take out petty criminals, or serve warrants, or maybe break in the wrong house at 4AM, and if you happen to be armed...you’re dead. We need to cut the budget and numbers of police even though the political trend has been to add more with every passing year.

I’m not naive enough to believe there are not some evil dudes that they must deal with, but I’m also skeptical enough that I don’t like the trend and can see this power trip and mindset migrating to relatively crime free areas.

Any LE involved in over use of force needs to have it recorded permanently on a national DOJ/FBI record (not just the local PD) so that it follows them. We need to set a bias for restraint, if only for the benefit of maintaining public PD respect. More and more law abiding Americans that I know of all political opinions are getting their fill, and are now concerned it is coming to them or families.
