May I ask where you got that info?
I did some checking, looking for further details, but must have used the wrong (or not just right) search terms, resulting in getting the same much limited news article repeated at a couple of dozen outlets...
...shots were fired in what appears to be an attempted suicide...
Er, SHOTS WERE FIRED, would indicate an ASSISTED Suicide.
so, my apologies for not having known previously.
This article had better details, like where the guy was, etc.
No further explanation of why some one may think a vehicle was booby-trapped, although that may be a logical precaution.
I did go and at least try to look before making initial comment though.
One of these days... some goon or gang of goons is going to figure out how to best gauge reactions of LEO's...and find a way "in" to where they think *they* would prefer to go out in blazes of glory, but it could take a few of them all at once being suicidal maniacs to pull it off?
I see in the sidebar there a link to some article or another calling Rand Paul "stompy foot" for him having turned his back on an interviewer (after having told that one --- "one more question, then I simply have to go" having a meeting of some sort scheduled) while also highlighting someone I presume to be a "progressive" (as they like to think of themselves) walking out on Hannity, talking about "hate".
But he didn't call that walker a "stompy foot".
Just thought I'd point that out.
Obama is Prez stompy foot, and everybody blasted well knows it.
I'm no big Rand Paul fan (though he's far more even keeled than his father can come across as being?) but the attempt to deflect that charge from Zipper the Failure & Co., did fairly well leap off the sidebar at me.
Who has the pic of moochelle with the “suspicious package?”
I read today that the top 20% of earners pay 84% of the taxes!
Attempted suicide is actually Obamacide.
(In Washington no one can do anything right, thanks to the Resident in the White Hut.)
freakout...nation? such a name!!
he was an aspiring rapper....had just gotten his GED..and his EBT card..
the article I got the information from said that they were looking for his car...I was assuming that it might well be boobytrapped.
“By an odd quirk of fate, the upper 1% pay 45.7% of all income tax. The bottom 40% pay a negative 3.3%, after EITC. The upper quintile pays 83.9%.”
I suppose it’s crazy talk to suggest that if you don’t have some skin in the game you shouldn’t vote.
Is it Vince Foster again?
do we really know where hillary clinton was this morning???
“lockdown”
Can’t stand that stupid phrase either.
Lockdown is a condition in prison, I don’t participate in lockdowns.
That's a thought.
Now that I used better search terms, the suspicious package --- seemed to be the suitcase, or so the story seems to go.
One source says they were told only one shot was fired, characterized as a suicide.
LA Times updated about 3 hours ago http://abc7.com/news/man-commits-suicide-near-us-capitol/650861/
Previous reports worded as 'subject was neutralized' with no further info, coupled with "shots fired" as in multiple shots, led many to wonder how the neutralization came about. That much is obvious, right?
Though I have no real reason for suspecting Capital Police of any wrongdoing in this, it would be interesting for there to be some additional follow-up, like beyond relying on the word(s) of LEO's, alone.
The sign taped to the man's hand, allegedly reported on Twitter (of all places) as saying "tax the 1%".
RT (Russia Times, based in DC i think) ran with that, but added mention the wording was unconfirmed.
Updated a little less than an hour ago at this posting time --- http://abc7.com/news/man-fatally-shoots-self-near-capitol;-lockdown-lifted/650830/ coming out of Los Angeles (makes one wonder, just a little, huh?)
The man shot himself around 1 p.m. near the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building, according to police. He was wearing a blue backpack and had a sign taped to his hand, and there was also a suitcase nearby, law enforcement sources told ABC News.Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine said the sign said something about social justice, but he did not reveal the exact language.
Bomb technicians checked the suitcase, clearing the area, and by late afternoon had reopened the area.
Police said they were not yet releasing the name of the man, but said the incident is not terrorism-related.
Although the man shot himself, the Capitol was locked down as a precautionary measure, Sgt. Kimberly Schneider of the U.S. Capitol police said. The lockdown ended just before 4 p.m., Schneider confirmed, and the building reopened.
No other injuries were reported.
No shots were fired by any law enforcement agency, according to police.
The Metropolitan Police Department in D.C. is investigating the death, police said. The FBI, U.S. Park Police and Secret Service are also at the scene.
It seems as if there may have been a news reported (from ABC) who was asking questions, or else LEO's were also reading the ongoing internet echoes and realized there were questions which would naturally pop up due to the wording and the brevity of what I assume was the initial info given to news agencies.
Neutralized means dead, now who caused the death?
Milton Friedman, inter alia, has suggested that anyone who receives government largess should not be allowed to vote. The John Stuart Mills conundrum: Democracies fail when the electorate learn they can vote themselves largess from the treasury.
Suicide? Did America shoot itself?
Read the comments on the Fox site—all of it is said there! :-)
You would think that copycats from the LGBT, anti-gun, war, tea party, Westboro Baptist Church, and maybe even ISIS, would continue to conduct operations like this...
The benefit is two-fold...
#1, it kinda clears up the gene pool...
#2, it shuts down government from doing anything...
Kinda a win/win for us...And we wouldn’t have to lift a finger...
But this is just my opinion...
;-)
I got all excited when I read the headline. And now I have never been so disappointed in all of my life.
