“Most of all, I have been blessed with the opportunity to learn from, teach, mentor and lead some of the finest men and women this country has ever produced ~”
I know you have earned your retirement but please mentor a few more from time to time. We are sadly lacking in examples such as you lately.
Thank you for your service.
Over the years I’ve always had a hard time coming up with a response to that “thank you”. I recently decided the best response is “It was an honor.” I’m sure you feel the same way.
I would say “God bless you” but it’s obvious He already has.
Congratulations and thank you for your service.
I, and to an even greater extent, my son (who deployed with me as an Infantryman) also had trouble dealing with that, but finally decided that “Thank You, and thank you for your support” was about as good as we could come up with/
It was, and is, always a humbling experience
Congrats!
Best to you.
Retirement is hard. I’m facing my own in about a year from now. It is hard for me to even think about after all these decades of being needed and useful. Just have to find something else.
Be happy you are still young enough and able enough to enjoy it.
Well said, both your post #1 and this one!
Thank you for your service!
Well done, Sarge.
Congrats.... and thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service AbnSarge!
Except for the diving and parachuting, you have paralleled Mark Twain’s experiences. please read “Following the Equator”. You sound like the kind of man who will laugh yourself silly at things written over a century ago.
Good job soldier.
Thank you for your service.

So, now that you are finished with the fun stuff, what do you want to be when you grow up?
