Fightin: yesterday, Rush quoted at length from my item about Tom Friedman, and linked to it at the bottom of his transcript.
So again, while you’re obviously entitled to your opinion, some fellow conservatives find my stuff at least occasionally useful.
Here’s that item, by the way:
I listened to Rush yesterday, on and off, and yes I heard the Friedman discussion that you are so proud of.
So he stumbles his way through Friedman’s nonsense and through your analysis-—boy, we (you) scored some great points there in showing Friedman to be a self-blinkered, lying leftist, didn’t you?
And wasn’t that just a revelation to everybody?
Mr. Finkelstein, did you ever think anything other than that of Mr. Friedman?
Do you still think something other than that about Barack Obama?
You pointed out that they are intellectually dishonest, and that Obama’s great power makes him dangerous to us on that score.
Again-—this is our battle plan? Again-—you and Rush have told us what we should scoff at, and be offended by. But what is the path forward?
You didn’t ask, but I will tell you that I was a diehard listener to Rush for over 25 years. He literally taught me how to think about these matters-—the Friedman idiocy is a good example. I know how to receive Thomas Friendman, and how to deconstruct his weak little mind, thanks to Rush.
But I used to listen to all of Rush every day, because he used to point out not just the weaknesses and stupidities of the enemy (for that is what they are), but also the way to “combat” them, to best them, to crush them.
Rush will stand among my figurative fathers for the rest of my life, but I listen to him less and less often precisely because he seldom offers a battle plan anymore.
You and Media Matters never have. This is all just my opinion, as you say.
Thanks for your time.
Terrific, Mark! Congrats!
