The silver lining of this issue is that voters like me who oppose abortion AND sodomite marriage can no longer be referred to as ‘single issue’ voters. :-)

Not embarrassed by anybody's display of faith. Embarrassed by how easily conservatives are distracted and sidetracked, primping and preening, strutting around in their holiness while the left sneaks back into the ring from behind with the dreaded folding chair.
But I must say, many on this thread have made my point much clearer than I could ever do. Case in point right here. Thanks!

...so he’s locked up the ‘log cabin’ voters...that should put Marco right over the top. (IMO, sarcasm that obvious doesn’t need to be labeled.)

Embarrassed by how easily conservatives are distracted and sidetracked I'll go ahead and agree with that sentiment. Didn't Rubio begin his campaign by getting up in the journolists' grills a little bit?
Laying aside the specifics under discussion in the thread, we need a "Refusing to Take the Bait, for Dummies" book.

I've noticed in my time here that A LOT of people from the 98-99 era joined because they hated Clinton and believe that conservatism just means someone has an "R" after their name.
Look how many of the 98ers got caught in the bugzapper thread eight years ago.

"Are you really trying to make the argument that good economic policy is a better defense against encroaching islam than Christian Orthodoxy?"Sorry, forgot to address this...
WTH?

Embarrassed by how easily conservatives are distracted and sidetracked, primping and preening, strutting around in their holiness while the left sneaks back into the ring from behind with the dreaded folding chair.I'm sure you are, as are all Rockefeller Republicans.
Trouble is, what you interpret as vanity and sanctimony is actually your own cognitive dissonance trying to square the circle of values you share with genuine conservatives and those you do not share.

Nobody is pro gay marriage. Its what Tom Wolfe called a social Xray. Its a screening test for discriminators. And nobody who flunks is going to win.Hogwash. Even liberal Oregon voted 66% against gay marriage.

WTHIt was a metaphor.
I find it amusing you seem to dread islam, but have contempt for Christians.
Maybe you just have a problem with religion....

Hogwash. Even liberal Oregon voted 66% against gay marriage. Yeah, but they weren't the "cool" people... ;)

I'd forgotten about that. Every so often one of them shows up on a thread daring a zot.

Regarding my last terse post to you-—please ignore it.
We’re on the same side, and that’s what matters.

"People want someone who actually stands on principle." Of course. I look forward to cheering them on to certain defeat.
