The Vatican announced Tuesday that it will host a major conference on climate change on April 28, featuring some of the worlds leading climate scientists and an opening address by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The conference, Protect the Earth, Dignify Humanity: The Moral Dimensions of Climate Change and Sustainable Development, will also feature Jeffrey Sachs, a prominent American economist and director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
The summit hopes to help build a global movement across all religions for sustainable development and climate change throughout 2015 and beyond, and to highlight the intrinsic connection between respect for the environment and respect for peopleespecially the poor, the excluded, victims of human trafficking and modern slavery, children and future generations, says the Vatican.
The one-day summit will also include participants from major world religions and aims to elevate the debate on the moral dimensions of protecting the environment in advance of the papal encyclical, the Vatican says. The Popes much-anticipated encyclical on the environment is scheduled for release this summer. Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana, a top Vatican official who is leading the drafting process of Francis encyclical on the environment, will also speak at the conference. ...

So let's worry about phony climate change, instead of the brutal murder of innocents in the Middle East.

And full of crap at times.
I say this as a Catholic.

This pope is an unmitigated disaster. Never trust a Jesuit. Most of them are Marxists.

It’s amazing what ‘relevancy’ will drive some folks to do.
It’s sad, but he is siding with the biggest enemies of his church that exist on planet earth.
They’ll even defend Islam.
Pope Francis, with all due respect, this is not a good idea.

Amen. Wish ALL my fellow Catholics would stick to scripture.

Nothing wrong with Catholics, but Jesuits are often Marxists/communists.

Just what we need — another excuse for the pope to complain about us selfish, greedy Americans. Sorry Francis. I refuse to be guilted into taking care of every deadbeat in the world. That's what this climate change carp is all about — income redistribution.

I wonder if he will kiss a copy of “An Inconvenient Truth”.

I love the way libs/Catholics always turn it into an issue about the poor.
Insert facepalm.

Actually, this particular Pope is certainly full of...
And I’m a Catholic. But we’ve had bad ones before and we’ve survived (although generally, they’ve just been morally bad and not heretical, like this goofball).

"This pope is an unmitigated disaster. Never trust a Jesuit. Most of them are Marxists." Obama proved that anybody can become president. Pope Francis has likewise proved that anybody can become pope.
