It wasn’t uncommon back in the 50s and 60s in Texas either (Houston and Dallas). Heck ... on my first day in Middle School (Junior High) in Dallas, there was a guy shot and killed in drive-by and several others wounded. I just missed getting hit on that one! They were dropping around me!
I also remember several teachers getting beat up at school by parents plus a principal getting beat in the hallway ... LOL ...

LOL! I remember when a store owner had his head split open by a fire axe! LOLLLLL they pulled his brains right out, then set the store owners daughter on fire, and slit open her belly and strangled her with her own intestines!!! OMG that was so funny!!! LOL
