I’m with you, Big Louie! Even when going to the dentist I say NO to every question.

I am simply amazed at the “New Patient” questions being asked today. Took my college age son to a new doc, recently, and could not believe some of the questions. I kept saying, “ignore that one”.

Right?! I mean I'm all for rigorous honesty, but I'm not going to answer this truthfully, "Do you own a gun?" But one day, those government databases might start talking to each other...

I think right now, these systems are so messed up that they wouldn't be able to cross check my middle name. I recently met a guy who works specifically on databases for one of the National Labs. He said the internal contact database that links all labs is so antiquated they have spent three years just on separating city/state/zip fields and they still aren't done.

Yup! During a 20 minute appointment, my doctor spends more than half of the visit typing crap into his computer.

Ain’t that the truth! I just pull out my phone and read FR while he and his Med. Asst type. We don’t really say anything to each other. This is true of the specialists and surgeons he refers, too.

My last visit I had a new physician because, well, I liked my Dr but I couldn’t keep him.

I drew a diagonal line through each page on the form. The nurse called my name. I handed her the clipboard and said, “Do you want this?”

She smiled and told me she’d capture the relevant information, which did not include whether or not I felt safe at home or am sexually active or own any guns or use recreational drugs.

Try not filling it out. I don’t believe there are teeth behind these intrusive policies to collect personal information. I believe the clinics are simply forced to present the forms and collect what they can.

I find it harder every day to believe that we have allowed our government to get so out of control. If this kind of intrusiveness continues to go unchallenged we may as well report to a concentration camp now because those of us who refuse the government’s orders will soon find ourselves being marched off to a furnace in the not to distant future.

We must have the same doctor. Do you have as hard a time as I do understanding what little he does say because of his foreign accent (Hindu?).

.
Why do you guys even go to doctors?

They don’t seem to have any legitimate function.

Their mistakes can shorten your life by decades.

Hate to break it to you, but it has operated that way. Why do you think we were asking patients with a GI bleed if they felt threatened at home, owned a gun, ate regularly, etc. it wasn’t for gathering symptoms. It was for gathering information being “shared” with various agencies, each bit of information with a “unique identifier” for data tracking.

It’s just more obvious now.

Well, evidence based medicine is something different. That involves studies to compare clinical effectiveness of treatments. But we also have had treatment recipes for years and those that follow them too rigidly are told they are practicing “cookbook medicine.” Legally safer but they miss the tricky cases.

The major change occurring is that treatments that the government thought were too expensive are going from partial coverage to no coverage, and even to the point of not being allowed under certain plans. Moreover, older patients are finding out that the death panel rules went into effect this year. No more heart caths for the elderly. No invasive pacemaker procedures. No transplant lists. All going into effect.

Treatments are, indeed, going to be Medicare/Obamacare pre-approved or they won't happen. But then, less payments mean less equipment, supplies, and qualified personnel so soon, it won't be a problem anymore. Can't demand something that is no longer available.

Agreed FRiend.

I’m amazed at the number of citizens who willingly trade privacy for convenience.

Exactly, “Illigitima non Carborundum,” don’t let the bastards grind you down.
Seems as though every time I have occasion to visit a doctor, the visit comes with a phalanx of pages to be filled out “so that Dr. has an up to date copy of your medical record.” I went to visit a doctor for a followup visit recently and was handed a sheaf of papers to fill out. You would have thought I was committing some sort of a felony the way the receptionist reacted when I handed the clipboard right back to her saying I wasn’t going to fill it out. She called her supervisor and I told her the same thing. Further, I said that if the price for getting to see her doctor was filling out the paperwork I was leaving and they could forget about the $50 “fee for not keeping the appointment.” I should have followed up saying that if the doctor refused to see me that I was going to send him a bill for wasting my time. At that moment, they all relented. It is an unqualified disgrace and it’s all being driven by the government. The way things are going, you soon won’t be able to walk across the street without a permit to do so.

Government destroys everything it touches. Doctors hate Obamacare. They know their nurses will be replaced with cheap physicians assistants.

Right off the bad they had to spend $10 thousand for software required by the law that doesn’t work.

I’m sure legions of old doctors can’t wait to retire. My condolences to the young doctors who have a lifetime of government tyranny ahead just so they can practice their trade.
