That used to be the case. But 'conventional wisdom' has been thrown out the window with a lot of people pissed off now, when earlier they weren't as ticked off.

In a way, it’s like the story, The Emperor’s New Clothes. The propagandists, aka media, have built a cocoon of lies to protect their ideological allies in government, but the citizens ARE talking and restless. It’s still being done in hushed tones out of fear of losing jobs or being ostracized, but the truth is unstoppable simply by virtue of being true. The powers that be can only cover it up so long before it explodes.
