I think what you say is correct, but I’ll go one further. Not only is it aid and comfort, it is a statement to other mooselimbs that he’s using the infidel Jefferson’s own Koran as a statement that now Islam has conquered or is about to conquer this nation that set itself against them under that Koran owner.
One can argue whether that conquered status is actually true, but these days, perception is reality in many circles, as there are few, at least in the media, who recognize that there are absolutes.
This is (for me) an interesting revelation. I knew of Jefferson’s koran. I knew that he acquired it in an effort to gain a greater understanding of his enemies. But I had always assumed that he had gotten it the way most people do - fished it out of a dumpster (OK, just kidding).
It just adds another element to the phoniness that is ellison.

ellison is a muslim and an islamist. What was important to him was that this was Thomas Jefferson’s copy of the koran and he knew what Jefferson’s conclusions on islam were, that to be stopped they couldn’t be reasoned or negotiated with but must be killed and that is what was done with the barbary pirates. Using Jefferson’s koran was a slap in the face of America and President Jefferson, islamist build mosque’s at the site of their victories, the tried to build one at the site of the World Trade Center. I couldn’t believe ellison was allowed to use that koran. Whoever administered his oath of office may have just as well held his member and aimed it for him as he urinated on President Jefferson’s grave.
