The 'proxy' war is escalating very rapidly. As AP reports, Navy officials confirm that the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt is headed to Yemeni waters to intercept an Iranian weapons shipments. Just as we warned 10 days ago, the probability of a major escalation over the latest proxy Middle Eastern civil war escalated substantially when Iran parked two warships off the Yemeni coast.

I’ve been studying the Mamluke’s. This middle east mess has been going on for centuries. We, the US, were just another player in a long succession of unfortunates but now we are different.. we have a leader that is one of them, them being the enemy.
It seems that the NAVY isn’t going to challenge the Iranians.
We seem to have been misled.
I agree that the toll would be heavy, but we could pay an awful price up front.
I know our NAVY is very capable. I don’t think it’s out of line to be apprehensive knowing what sorts of things they may run up against.

Curiously this carrier task force has two, count’em TWO LHD’s. that’s two battalions of US Marines. That’s a bit of an overload even for the Fifth Fleet or Task Force 150. With that much extra horsepower somebody, somewhere, is planning on flexing. The task force is nine (9) surface ships plus the unseen fast atack sub. I saw a fresh video yesterday of a VertRep going to the Teddy. That’s a cycle where they transfer remaining weapons from the carrier going off-station to the one coming on. We just hate to haul perfectly good weapons back home. There’s enough mojo in this group to send the Persians and all their toy ships back to at least the 12th century. There are usually only three MEU-SOCs out at any one time (One from Lejune, One from Pendleton and possibly one from Okinawa), so that means two out of the three deployed are in one area of the world? Wow, that is a lot of firepower. It also just could be a temporary situation where one MEU is leaving the area and one is coming on duty to the task. If they are doing any vertreps, they could be reconfiguring the ships equipment to fit the task that they want to use it for in this situation.

Obama is playing games with saudis, counselling them to me moderate in defending their border with Yemen.
I mean tghe democratic process in Yemen has to play out in Yemen and we have to accept the Shia radicals and Muslim Brotherhood radicals just as he did in Iraq, Libya, Kenya ( Orange Party 2007), Syria, and in Gaza.Obama tried in Egypt but lost, with Obama’s man Morsi being sentenced to 20 years in jail. Obama believes that the U.S. exercising police power in the world is actually neocolonialism, and so he will not act to protect the status quo, he makes messes stirring things up and calls it “democracy.” Obama is an idiot,causing the deaths of millions of people throughout the Middle East and deep into Africa. I do not believe for a second that the US Theodore Roosevelt will prevent supply of the Houthis. It is there to assure the resupply of the Houthis, for the same reason Obama would not arm the Pesh Merga in Northern Iraq. Obama is behind the Shiites all the way..
I understand all our people are not out of Yemen. Might those Marines be useful for landing and extraction?
